One reason I whack coyotes.

Who cares about the rest of the land, the photos clearly show the birds in your nicely trimmed yard. I guess some folks don’t mind stepping in giant bird turds everywhere and having their dogs track the crap back into the house. Not my cup of tea.
I care and many others on the forum, if you're not okay with it don't look, or respond it's really quite simple.

Was also curious...what does this even mean? Do you own 24000 acres, or is this just the county you live in or...? Do you hunt this 24000 acres..., Do other people live here and hunt?
Let's just say it's my private preserve, and leave it at that, THX for your interest.

Just curious here but do you even read the stuff you post?

In one sentence you say there "are more coyotes than one could ever hope to trap call, and shoot" but then in the very next sentence you claim "there's been a marked increase in the beneficial game animals since I've been after them".

You're so desperate for attention and "likes" you contradict your own words. Seriously, you really are much better suited for places like Facebook and Instagram.
If you don't like what, I have to share don't look. It's definitely a step above what you post, you've stalked me on every worthwhile forum to the point some jumped in and told you to take a hike, take their advice I don't really care about amateurs like you. I won't get in a urinating contest with clowns, I deal with enough on my job.

Myself and many others regularly help others on this forum and others like it but people like you come along and do nothing but try and create some kind of story line about how amazing you are with your BS. One minute your 17 Hornet shoots amazing, the next you're asking for help to rebarrel it because you aren't happy with the results it's giving you but then your ego kicks in to overdrive and you come back with BS about how amazing it shoots and how you never miss. I'll say again, do you even read your own words?

You obviously like free sites since you won't even upgrade your membership so stick to free sites like Facebook and Instagram where you can post all the hero I'm a legend in my own mind stuff.

By the way, the picks with the turkeys in the nice yard, that's not even your yard is it?

I don’t care one way or the other whether you prefer killing coyotes or not. That’s not my point at all. Just my opinion that I’d rather let the yotes keep the turkeys in check. If you like large piles of bird crap everywhere in your lawn, driveway, and sidewalks then that’s your choice. Ain’t my house so it’s no skin off my back.

Exactly now you're thinking.

Part of it , plus another 24000 acres.

I'd rather keep the coyotes in check, and I believe I may be in the majority on this forum.

Years ago there was a study done in Arizona where it was shown that in desert environments rabbit population fluctuations had more impact on coyote populations than any other factor other than intensive trapping.
I live in Arizona and i can tell you first hand that i see this with rabbits. Last winter saw more rabbits and killed a lot of coyotes. This year very little rabbits or none in some spots and still getting some coyotes but not as easy to get them. Several did not even come in to rabbit sounds, i had to mix my calling sounds up to try and find something that would work.

Lived in the Chiricahua Mountains for over a decade. Rancher friend and I did Coyote pelts for a little extra cash flow one winter. One winter was enough!

Unless of course you have an extremely protective German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois standing guard, then the coyotes are the ones that will be losing numbers when they come around ;)

Not sure my sons neighbor had his Rottweiler torn to hell, they saved him but he'snot the same. We have a two large land preserves and a landfill close by and every few years they have to hire a professional hunter to kill them.

Yeah I guess not all dogs are the same. Rottweilers have size going for them and are great dogs but they are slow and not so smart. There’s a reason police and military choose shepherds and the more agile malinois. But coyotes are fast an vicious when cornered so I’m sure they could do some damage.

Best bet to keep coyotes at bay is to get a donkey. They are some coyote stomping and thrashing machines! Sheep farmers have been using donkeys to protect their herds from coyotes for ages and they are extremely effective at their job.

Ledd not trying to start an argument but I dont believe any dog, any, has a chance against a decent sized pack of Hungary desperate coyotes. I think a few few shy ones are deterred by a good aggressive guard dog, but not a hunting pack. The dog becomes the prey. The only dog that I personally know of that survived a coyote attack was a huge St Bernard type and it was torn to shit. It lived but barely. No way really to quantitate the dog losses, many are just gone and never found. Good luck. Maybe get your guy a buddy to double their firepower. I hope you dont have to find out. Interesting info about the donkey. The yotes around our area stay way way far away from human anything as they get shot on sight.

Any working strain shepherd or malinois from imports , Czech, Slovakia , Germany will have no problem whatsoever against a coyote, now a pack is a horse of a different color, when I get some time I'll show you the real deal imports I'm talking about remember these dogs were used to protect the flocks in Europe against wolves.
