One reason I whack coyotes.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that yotes can improve small game populations by eliminating other mesopredators such as opossums, snakes, and feral cats. And if you want to maintain coyotes at a low density you leave them alone. Reducing local populations creates empty territories and home ranges and a higher prey base so coyotes compensate by producing larger litters so you end up with more coyotes than you started with, at least in the short term. To reduce coyote populations you need an intensive long-term trapping program. Shooting them is fun but not very effective. I know people who shoot coyotes every year on the same farm. They shoot a lot of immatures too due to high reproduction rates. Isn't biology a bit...:D

Sorry, very respectfully I must disagree completely with this philosophy. On my place I have been indiscriminately smacking every yote, at every opportunity, for the past five years. I've only seen one(day or night) in the past nine months and only two were caught on trail cams passing through.
Now they may be raising pure hell somewhere, but it's not on my place. And consider this, if your supposition were "true without exception" wouldn't PETA, HSUS, and all the libtards be begging us to shoot every coyote in sight just to initiate a dog explosion?
I clearly recall the days not many years hence when coyotes were not a part of the equation. There were viable populations of deer, rabbits, quail, ruffed grouse, turkey and woodchucks. Now, there are coyotes, bears and the occasional fox feeding on carrion and any hapless fawn, rabbit or chicken they encounter. The quail are gone, the grouse are gone, the chucks are gone and the turkey population is in a steep decline.
This concept, proposed and repeated endlessly by numerous local, state and federal agencies is, in my opinion(based on experience) nothing more than pseudo academic...kool-aid!

A decent enough analogy , but I live in a 24000 acre area more coyotes than one could ever hope to trap call, and shoot. My personal experience has been that there's been a marked increase in beneficial game animals since I've been after them.

Never have had coyote eat Opossum, game cam video of opossum on bait(deer ) and multiple coyote surrounding. Leave Opossum out, maybe a crow or Bald Eagle will test taste and leave. I have watched opossum on a bait and coyote wait for it to leave. Skunk is a better early warning critter, tail up and butt toward the coyote direction.

Coyotes aren’t that bad. Personally I’d rather have coyotes than those stinkin turkeys crapping all over everything. All wild turkeys do is eat and crap everywhere they step. They don’t taste that good and are the worst smelling bird to field dress. Nasty creatures.

Wolves on the other hand, now there’s a dog that can wreak absolute destruction on wildlife. Every wolf whacked saves the lives of countless big game animals

Opinions are like , you know everyone has one. Those turkeys crapping on 24000 acres is not even slightly discernible.

Just curious here but do you even read the stuff you post?

In one sentence you say there "are more coyotes than one could ever hope to trap call, and shoot" but then in the very next sentence you claim "there's been a marked increase in the beneficial game animals since I've been after them".

You're so desperate for attention and "likes" you contradict your own words. Seriously, you really are much better suited for places like Facebook and Instagram.

Who cares about the rest of the land, the photos clearly show the birds in your nicely trimmed yard. I guess some folks don’t mind stepping in giant bird turds everywhere and having their dogs track the crap back into the house. Not my cup of tea.
