is it possible ur gunsmith opened that up a bit? Norma (i think) 6.5 brass dont fit in the remingtons ive tried them in.

No, he didn’t mention touching it. PPU brass fits as well. Not much wiggle room, but they fit. Of course, this is a Stiller Predator. Not a Remington!

that means tolerances should be tighter right?

As per usual, that didn`t get typed out how I meant it to sound.........

I have a magnum action with the larger ejection port, the action also has a .473 bolt, I figured that it would need to be opened up.

I have some Lapua brass on the way, just to confirm.

Thanks for making me re-read my post and clarify it...

Some .473 bolts have clearance up to .478-.480”, in which case you will be set. A quick caliper check should work if you’ve not done it.

From personal experience: Some Remington extractors will snap over the rim on the Lapua 6.5 Swede cases, some won't. If the bolt closes hard on your case you will need to send off and have the bolt opened up a bit and converted to Sako or mini M16 style extractor. The Kelbly Fclass Panda bolt with mechanical ejector will work with the Swede case. I started out with the 6.5 Swede as my first custom chambering and eventually it morphed into a 6.5x55^40degree improved.

Just seen this thread...I did one a while back by running my 6Br reamer in real deep and turned and necked down Lapua 6.5 swede brass to 6mm. I can't remember the actual depth off hand but it was pretty fast even at 25" length.

I was talking with Greg about 6AI brass and the 6x55 AI Swede came up as it would be much simpler to form cases and have approximately the same case capacity.
