Swede 6.5-55 brass

There was a discussion going on here about swedes and the brass and how it can be made from other brass and Ive looked on the search function and can not find it. So help out a guy with almost no Google foo. I bought a Swede 1894 in a sporter stock that I wish to load for. Dies came day before yesterday. Seems in the back of my mind I have this idea I can make 6.5-55 brass from 6mm Remington brass. Is this possible and will this work with the slightly larger head size of the Swede chamber?

Yep, just buy some 6.5X55 brass I shot some that I thought was military brass, turns out it was '06 brass cut down, I ended up having to have the barrel pulled to get the brass out of the chamber, in was on a Remington 722 action.

Agree, get some 6.5x55 brass and be happy. Note, the correct case head dimension of x55 brass is 0.480, so it's larger than 30-06 and other Mauser brass (0.473). I use Lapua for competition use, but S&B or NNY for plinking and hunting loads.

For some reason I had made up my mind that it could be made from 6mm, but i checked last night and have discovered that 6mm and 7x57 have .473 base also. Thanks I'll order PRIVI tonight. Now that I can see maybe I can shoot an Iron sighted rifle again.

It is a little more than just the case head. The chamber on a x55 runs .4815 at the .200 line above the extractor cut. The 6 mm and x57 runs +/- 472.
