JimPag says--"I swapped an 8 pound container of LT30 for a 17TW 30 caliber HV blank from the IBS Vice President that he won at a National event. He is sponsored by Brux barrels so he didn't want it. Had it chambered up by Bob Green and have 96 rounds thru that barrel and when I get a good group it won't repeat. It is the worst barrel that I ever had or shot and I have a bunch of them. I can get Kriegers, Harts, Mullers, Bruxs, Kostyshyns, Rock Creeks, Liljas and Bartleins to shoot multiple repeatable groups within 25 rounds, but that Douglas in my opinion is a worthless piece of junk. That's why only one person in short range score uses them and he doesn't do too good with it at all."
Sounds like it may be other issues, and not the barrel. I have followed some of the Benchrest postings and I have seen Douglas listed. I think that Douglas will be great. Looking forward to mine. Sounds like a lot of happy customers and one not happy. I have been in the custom world for many. many years in the USPSA Pistol competitions. I remember my sponsor back then built a full house custom pistol for a person. The guy was not a world class shooter, or even a good local shooter. He complained so bad that my sponsor gave him his money back. My sponsor received the pistol back and it had been butchered so bad by the self imposed great shooter, the pistol was useless. Just for the record, I am not saying JimPag is a good shooter or a bad shooter in any way. I do not even know Mr. JimPag. I hope Mr. JimPag found what he was looking for. But the results from what appears to be very happy customers out ways the un-happy. So I would not think with the statements posted on this great forum, that Douglas is a worthless piece of Junk !
My sponsor back then, builds world class pistol and rifles , still to this day. Donnie Fraley is so OCD, he builds some very good, world class weapons. Donnie uses Douglas in a lot of his rifle builds still to this day. He has built some of the best, most accurate going.
If Douglas is junk, then I will be one of the happy customers. And again for the record, I would like to thank Mr. JimPag for his opinion.
