Best Carbon Cleaner

I am not trying to hijak this thread but here goes. Are powders different from each other enough chemically that a carbon cleaner would work better with one powder than the other. Would CLR work better than boretech on say Varget and not work that well on 4064 and Boretech work better for 4064 than varget as an example.

To be perfectly honest, nothing I have ever used will do all the work and cleaning product tend to confuse me. So far, no good replacement for methodical patch pushing. Right now working with Butch's Bore Shine and it seems to work well on powder and copper. Have used a bunch of all the usual suspects and they all seem about the same on powder with big differences in copper and lead fowling cleanup.

CLR works great, just don't use in carbon steel. stainless is fine, but also, do not soak it for too long.

I use CLR to clean the muzzle crown and wipe it off clean, then alcohol and CLP.

be careful using on anything nitrided, it'll turn pink. I'll use it on nitrided brakes.

I also use Boretech. for brakes, i pour some in a prescription bottle and leave it in for a few days. Still need to use a pick to get the carbon off.

What is the best carbon cleaner available?? Thanks Allen
Check this thread out. This is where I learned about Free All….awesome stuff

Don't forget, anything that is sticking to the barrel, is layered! I little copper, a little burnt powder, a little unburnt powder, (don't forget the film of what was last applied to the "clean" barrel". :)

i've been too busy with other projects lately to get a barrel dirty as a test subject, but if Free All works that well, what about PB Blaster? anyone tried that?
