I am about to have my smith chamber a new barrel in 6BR and would like to know if there is a difference in BR and BRA.
Stick with the standard BR. It shoots as well as it ever did. If you want more, go for the Dasher. Both are factory brass. There's no advantage for short range shooting to go for the BR wildcats.Well there sure is some variance in each of these. So what brass is available for these choices. Will they all from from 6BR Norma? I know the 6BR Rem is out of vogue at this time but is still listed in some reloading books. I am not leaning towards this cartridge.
I will only be shooting from 100 yards as that is the limit at the range I go to and I will not be shooting competition except for trying to outdo my self.
Don’t forget. Tell him to give you a no turn neck, too! .272I am about to have my smith chamber a new barrel in 6BR and would like to know if there is a difference in BR and BRA.
As you know, my 6PPC has a 262 neck, which required that neck be turned to .0075 or .0080. This turns out to be .258 and then .260 when seated.Don’t forget. Tell him to give you a no turn neck, too! .272
Nick! Ya know it’s not a bad idea to “skim turn” your brass with a no turn chamber. Take off any high spots to make the neck more uniform. When done right, you’ll have spots that are barely touched or untouched by the cutter. It’s good for snow days.As you know, my 6PPC has a 262 neck, which required that neck be turned to .0075 or .0080. This turns out to be .258 and then .260 when seated.
Always wondered why and to what advantage was gain from this. Also the 6PPC wants to see the neck seated lightly crimped with the OAL finalized when chamber the round.
Now I don't mind turning the necks if it will gain accuracy but if there is nothing to be gained why do so. I do want to squeeze as much as I can from the round. That's why I seek new calibers from time to time.
Oh, and but the way. Although our visit was short today, as usual I really enjoyed your company, as usual. And that little give and grinding for me solved a big, big worry for me. You are a very gracious host. Please tell Brenda I said hello and missed seeing her today. She is a great lady.

As I tell my wife, A MAN HAS GOT TO HAVE HIS STUFF. She laughs and just walks away.Nick! Ya know it’s not a bad idea to “skim turn” your brass with a no turn chamber. It was good to see you and glad I could help. Didn’t know I had that part until you asked and I looked. I think that means I have too much stuff!
Nick is just having fun and wants to try something different. If you look back thru his posts, he made the same comparison as you.” Not much difference.” Ask the guys that have a 6br, a bra and a Dasher.Nic if you only shoot 100 yds stick with your PPC , I haven't seen any 6brs beat or equal the 6ppc in any match's. I had a 6br 14t that shot as good as my 6ppc but I'm no record holder. I'm lucky to hold my own. lol.
The 6br is so close to a 6ppc I think I would try a 30br if you want a change of pace?

Just say " not exactly " there kind of like all your shoes, then stand back. They’re all the same!
That’s damn funny! In my case it be her pocketbooks .Just say " not exactly " there kind of like all your shoes, then stand back.
I tried a friends 30BR. At 85 and very bad shoulders the recoil was a little more than I liked. Yes, my PPC is a bug killer but I just like to try different things and I already have everything I need to put this rifle together.Nic if you only shoot 100 yds stick with your PPC , I haven't seen any 6brs beat or equal the 6ppc in any match's.
