New scope for 600 yrd.

Needing to replace old sightron sll 36x on my 600 yard rig. Needs to be 30mm tube and under 1500 bucks. Wanting best optic quality i can get for this cost. I get optical migraines from eye strain caused by crap glass, but not rich either. My 45x leupold on my short range rifle doesn't cause any problems but been having issues with this old sightron. How are the new slll 36x ? Any help is appreciated thanks.

I'm told by reliable sources that the Sightron 45x with ED glass is outstanding,
I' have the Sightron 8-32x56 s111 for 600 yard and 1 k as a backup also the Golden Eagle is pretty darn good.

I have the Sightron 45x and really like it. Glass is a definite upgrade over my SIII models

for the money I’d buy a used Night Force Benchrest 12x42- prob get one around 11 to 1200. Lifetime guarantee — I think the new ones are in the 1500 range

I have been using a Sightron 36X45 for a couple of weeks now and it has very good glass. I have not had time to compare the NF BR's and Leupold 35X side by side with it yet or used it long enough to find any faults if it has any but so far it has had good comments on the glass.

I would hold out for a NF NXS 12-42 to get side-focus and illumination, but that could require a bit more patience, as NF did not make that many NXS's in 12-42. Worth the wait, though. It hangs right with the ED glass NF's (ATACR and Comp.)

Or, like you say, just pick up a BR 12-42, which has the same glass.

Badhabit:
I have a NF NXS 12-42, which has side focus and illumination, and an NP-2DD reticle. (0.1moa dot at 42 power) $1400 plus shipping.
It is not a Zero stop model, as that was not available when they were making the 12-42 NXS.
Contact me via PM if you are interested. or need more info.

Ok I'm very interested in thoughts between the nightforce nxs 12-42 and the March 10-50. Both are about the same price used so it comes down to optical quality. Has anyone compared them?

I've had a bunch of the SII 36X Sightrons and while it's a great 100-300 scope, for 600 yd. work you're asking a lot of it.

I just received a Sightron SIII 36X45 ED. The optics are outstanding....on par with the NF 12-42 BR series. For 600 yd. work, I'd consider the 36X45 over the 45X45.

For a variable, the Sightron SIII 8-32x56 Long Range rates serious consideration. The glass, though not ED glass, is certainly a big step up from the SII 36X. Tracking is Bob Seger-ish...like a rock. ;)

The NF 12-42 BR model is always a great choice, as well.

Good shootin. -Al

I second the 100% You can't beat the for the Price. !! NP-2DD reticle You will never be sorry!! I have bought (5) of these off this site and every single was just like Brand New. Between $1000-$1100.00 one was sold yesterday for $1100.00.

I had a 10-50 (is it?) Sightron SIII- I know many people are happy with them but it just did not work for me. I imagine the ED ones would be fine, I just have no reason to spend that kind of money for one. What I have works for what I need. I like many others have spent alot of money buying and selling scopes to try them out. Thanks Al

Not even close. The March is far more money than the Nightforece on the used market by a long short.

I agree with hoz53 I have bought (6) Nightforce scopes from this site used and every single one looked brand new. Well (6) 12X43X56 Br's Np-2DD and (1) NSX 8X32X56 Np-2DD I bought all the benchrest models for $1100.00 or less. I don't think there is a better scope out there for the price.
