I’m sure there are some good stories about shipments that took the slow boat to get somewhere.

Attached is the shipping history for something I bought recently. I didn’t know you needed to go through Colorado to get from Ft. Worth to Houston!

yeah snail mail from this town to neighboring town 12 miles away goes for a 400 mile round trip to Tulsa and back. Efficiency at its finest...

I had a Fedex package that left the vendor in Ohio on Jun 24. It made it fairly quickly to South Haven MS and then never made it to the next destination. After 14 days the vendor told me that the truck had burned and my package was on it. They resent the product and it arrived in 3 days via UPS. The same day the Fedex package showed up with a new label on it saying that the old label was unreadable, but the label underneath was perfect. Sounds to me like Fedex is sinking and in CYA mode. A friend of mine worked for a sub contractor to Fedex, he said that Fedex is almost all subs now and the contracts go to the lowest bidder. The contractors pay poorly, their trucks are falling apart, and QC is lacking across the board. Just my opinion. With USPS flailing UPS is about the only reliable (?) option, and they are not what they used to be.

Can’t be worse than USPS

I’ve done hundreds of transactions on different forums in the past couple of years and the only one that has outright lost packages has been USPS.

I will say FedEx tends to be rougher on handling the packages than UPS but for me FedEx has had faster delivery times.

Anecdotally, I’ve sent at least five packages via FedEx that have already been delivered this week, some all the way across the country. Currently, I’m waiting on an XLR chassis that was sent last Friday via UPS, still not here yet

I like it better when both box 1 and 2 show out for delivery, box 2 gets delivered. Box 1 make a round trip to a town 1.5 hours away. Which is the last shipping activity online. Then box 1 takes 3 more days to show up.
In the mean time the fedex customer service desk may very well be speaking russian to me.

FedEx ground from East of here on I80 goes through Reno to Sacramento, then comes back to Reno. Guess there are not enough packages on the truck to stop here and unload.

USPS has been flawless for me

That may well be the case, BUT...

My kid and her BF are both working for a FEDEX subcontractor. I cannot directly quote $ but...

They worked two months straight, no days off. He drove and organized, she ran the packages, unless they were too big to carry. she made decent cash as a Jumper. He made as much as I do hourly, but he also got bonuses. If he worked two weeks straight, on the second Sunday he made $500 bonus for the previous Sunday. If he continued, he doubled that bonus on his third Sunday. He maxed at $2000 one day bonus and got several...paid his college tuition and his car off. (only wish he would have shared a bit with the girlfriend who wasn't making near that.) The company put them up in separate hotel rooms, pay for food, send them all over the NE USA over last holidays. They are not allowed to talk salary with the regular guys..

They are working again this summer...things are slower and he is doing ok...She will be laid off next week unless things pick up again. She is bummed cause she is short on her tuition.

I told her I would kill her if I saw video of her tossing packages etc. So far, only one dog bite and it got her right on the butt.

A prescription refill was sent USPS to me from LA to San Diego. Not much opportunity to botch that? Think again. It came to San Diego, paused silently for two days, and them reappeared bound for Dallas. After touring the Dallas area for several days, and several complaints to USPS, it made its way back to San Diego. Total elapsed time was eight days. Normally would be two.

That should have been the end of it. Next time the prescription was refilled, same thing. This time, as soon as it went silent, I complained. That reduced its stay in Dallas by a day or two. So, I guess that's progress.
