I'm sure it is on the inside and thought this would be the way to go. I called Kelbly's and they said it would be ok. Maybe finish it off with something like isso, or a polish on od. ?A little gunscrubber and an old tooth brush would of been better.
PS I have some 45 ACP brass that I could throw in would that help get it clean? I read somewhere that the cases hitting together is what gets them clean ?

I would have found a way to blame that on my wife or kids or something...lol If it makes you feel better, I ruined 50lbs of welding rods last week when i left them in the back of the buggy for the rain to get, and on top of that my kids dog got the brand new hood out and chewed it up, as well as 2 new pairs of tillmans!!!!My extractor was sticking so I left my Panda bolt 1/2 way in CLR, well it left a scum line above the tarnish.
I have it disassembled and in the tumbler now. My typical SNAFU.

That was an expensive raw hide chew!"brand new hood out and chewed it up, as well as 2 new pairs of tillmans!!!!"
Yup I posted this in hopes someone else would learn from my dumb mistake. I had to take the extractor out afterall to clean it lol. I vibrated it for 3 hours and no change. I had some mothers in the drawer so I went DGP4's advice. 4 more hours of cleaning and it is passable. ;{

Yep. I like the black deposit where the air met the CLR liquid on the OP’s bolt.Patina is "in". Dress the stock out with some "distressing", toss an old rangly looking Unertle on it and fake a few dents on the barrel and you will start a new trend!
In one of his videos, Erik Cortina says he has left if for many minutes in the bores of stainless steel barrels without ill effect. He does recommend 'neutralizing' the clr with alcohol or something.Is this the CLR that is advertised as dissolving Calcium, Lime and Rust? I just read that it should be rinsed off after two minutes of contact on whatever metal surface it's being used on.
