My Letter to NRA

I recently wrote a letter to the NRA. I stated that I have been an NRA member since 1965 and that I have supported the NRA with my membership, financial contributions and in many other areas since 1965.

I stated that I have been appalled at the revelations of the corrupt NRA leadership that has been revealed in the past few years, especially that of Wayne LaPierre and his Board member enablers.

I stated that I will continue my support to the NRA when Wayne is gone along with his cohorts. But until then, not another dime.

I attached the letter to one of their many solicitations that that I have received and put it in one of their prepaid envelopes. I plan to continue this until they stop sending the prepaid envelopes or Wayne is gone.

I agree with your sentiments about the current administration and would probably also write a letter but unfortunately the club I do most of my shooting at requires NRA membership for club membership. I do belong to other clubs that have shooting ranges and don’t have this requirement but their facilities aren’t as nice. NRA membership and club dues are a small price to pay enjoy shooting there so I’ll continue to do so as well as support the NRA.

My club charges more for non-NRA members and I am fine with that. ($80 per year vs. $125 per year).

They realized that club membership would drop by over half if they demanded that every person be an NRA member.

Fine idea. I did the same sort of letter -stamped and sent to NRA headquarters; marked "Anyone but WL"
I also have unrelated experience that makes me certain the prepaid envelopes all go to a fund raising company/clearance house, and anything not containing a dollar sign goes directly into the trash.

-100% NRA (Member and Instructor, starting when Nixon was president).

I still shoot in NRA approved matches so I guess you could make the point that I am still supporting the NRA and that is Ok. It is Wayne and his gang that need to go not all the good that the NRA does.

You are probably right so I will send the letter to NRA HQ, Thanks.

Please continue to support the NRA Foundation. The Foundation is the 501(c3) (non profit) and handles all the education, the grants and etc. Be aware that there are really 2 organizations.
Disclaimer, I am not connected in any way to the NRA, except being an member.

Good point. I am wondering if the NRA Foundation can survive if the feds put the main NRA out of business.

I understand writing a letter to the NRA, for venting purposes. Have to wonder who will read and what they could possibly do about it. Like you I am unhappy with the current leadership of the NRA. I believe that declining membership and fund raising is the only cure for the current state of affairs. The leadership on the current ship of fools may decide to sink it.

Wayne is taking rock star pay for mediocre at best work. He doesnt deserve a tenth of the huge sums of money he has taken. He basically has taken every dime I have given , put it in his pocket to go on lavish vacations,

Did you notice when you got your ballot for the board of directors (I got mine two days ago) there are 28 people running for 24 or 25 seats, many, if not most, are incumbents. Talk about a hand picked board - they don't even pretend, not that most of us would know any of them anyway.
