Pellet rifle "rediscovered", any air rifle folks ? caution, TMI

I just purchased an Umarex Origin and a DonnyFL Sumo suppressor to defend the garden from critters.
Hopefully it will be quiet....one neighbor is usually chain smoking on her back porch about 20 yards from my garden. I've got a good fence though. It should all be hear early next week, can't wait to get it all set up.

I received a Remington Vantage 1200 from a friend. It looks to be in very good condition but the trigger is terrible. Can anyone recommend an after market trigger for it ? Would there be any other upgrades for it ?

I dug out a Beeman P1. No clue why or when I bought it. Dropped it and broke the hammer spur off (not really a hammer).
Found and ordered a replacement. Hope there is no magic needed in replacing it. A friend who is into air stuff said it's a good one.
I never got into the air and especially a pistol.

You may not be surprised to learn that here in Australia air rifles are treated as firearms. Purchasers need a firearms licence and a Permit to Aquire. In fact I had to go through the exact same process to obtain an air rifle as I did for each of my Centrefire rifles. Yes - hard to believe I know. Further, we can only use air rifles at approved ranges for target shooting or on rural property for hunting. Shooting them in your backyard in town is illegal and would result in loss of licence and all firearms.

The consequence of these laws is that the air rifle community here is tiny as most just opt for a powder burner instead. I believe it is a deliberate ploy to stop kids becoming interested in shooting.
Same in Illinois.I had to do a transfer. Anything over 700 fps is a firearm.

Did that law change? My Diana Model 34P was rated at 1,000 fps and I got it delivered to the door around eight years ago. Haven't really kept track of air gun laws.

Yes but I can't remember what year without looking it up. Ordered my RAW from Utah air gun this year and they shipped to my FFL.

Interesting. Well, that's Illinois for you. Just looked it up. Looks like it changed in 2012. Must have bought mine before that. Time slips away. Need an FFL for a slingshot next.

I didn't think I would ever get into airguns again but the situation with ammo and reloading stuff made me re-think that. My parents got me a Sheridan silver streak almost 50 years ago for Christmas and I'm not sure I've ever had any more enjoyment from another firearm since. That Sheridan was $40 back then which was an extravagant purchase and I always deeply appreciated that. I still have it today.

To make a long story longer, I decided I was going to get into it again this year and ordered a weihrauch hw97. I hated it. Lots of recoil. Heavy trigger. I didn't think it was any better than a RWS 48 that I had given to a friend to shoot pests in his garden with. I called an airgun place and they gave me the name of someone in Minor Hill, TN that tunes airguns. David Slade at airgunwerks. I spoke with him about what I had and what I and wanted so off that one went for about six weeks. The difference is night and day. Smoother shot cycle but it's still a springer and I need to keep that in mind. The big difference is the trigger. Wow is all I can say ! I have not weighed it but feels like 6 to 8 ounces. It's as good as any jewell or triggertech I've had but in a 2 stage.

While the weihrauch was gone, I had the opportunity to shoot some different airguns that some of my fellow club members have. One guy brought 3 or 4 of his RAW's for me to shoot and that pretty much sealed the deal. I ordered a RAW chassis rifle in .25 caliber. It's an extremely nice shooting rifle. At 25 yds it will just keep putting pellets through the same ragged hole. The only thing I don't care for is the big goofy looking moderator. I'm getting ready to take the barrel off and send it to Martin Rutterford (developer of the RAW) and he is going to put a smaller carbon fiber one on it that matches the barrel. 20210615_114005.jpg20210615_113706.jpg

Awesome! Accuracy is key, or why bother ?!
I put a 3-9X Leupold EFR on my Beeman last week. w / a stout base/ ring setup.
Horrible groups.
So I removed the scope ( a really fine piece of glass ) - before it was trashed by recoil. So it's open sights for me; only, also.
This is surprising - in my experience (and much of the airgun world) the Leupold EFR series is as tough as they come and ideal for hard hitting airguns. Leupold guarantee of course.

BKL airgun mounts work quite well IME. Many mounts don’t clamp hard enough on the dovetails.

I told my wife that if we were to ever spend any time in the Philippines after retirement there better be something there for me to hunt...and I found it a number of years ago in the daga (rat). Saw many guys there running around with the popular Eskopeta brand airgun out of Manila, so bought a few for my nephews and man has it been fun shooting rats and sniping frogs with them over there. Hooked up with a guy from Mindanao at the crosman air pistol forum and he sold me a CO2 pistol his mother had after doing some work to it. He steel epoxied a Weaver base to the barrel, and I brought a 2X Swift pistol scope over for it awhile ago. With a tiny adjustable beam flashlight attached to it it's just as fun as it gets for daga sniping. I also contracted Eskopeta to build me one of their Undertaker models which is like a big CO2 airgun specialty pistol thats really cool for sniping frogs. Cant wait to get back over there again.

This Bad Boy is one of my favorites, it will launch a 240gr @ 1250fps and the It's good for 10 good shots then they start to fall off but can still get the job done.
It's a 45cal Air Force Texan,
That is a moderator all you hear is a wooosh then impact.LOL
It has an operating pressure of 4500PSI and now has a carbon fibre tank

Young feller, you might want to edit your post. Your rifle has a 3000 PSI max.

I have since done a upgraded valve and a carbon fibre Tank and a bunch of other stuff. If you do a search Texan 4500 psi there is tons of stuff. I would never misrepresent myself on a public forum.

Good looking. Plus that can. :) Shhhh
Suppressors are legal for air guns the same as oil filters are legal for your car. Cars and air guns are NOT classified as firearms by the ATF. Yes, you could make a fire arm suppressor out of either, but, with no INTENT to use either one on a firearm, totally legal. Illinois is hosed up.

Interesting.

A few years back I kept reading glowing reports of the Beeman P17 pellet pistol that I found hard to believe for a $40 pistol. Well, out of curiosity I bought one to plink in my backyard at 10 meters. All I can say is that it is the most fun you can have with something that cheap! Surprisingly accurate and quiet enough that it will not annoy close by neighbors. It loves the cheap Crosman Premier 7.9 grain pellets you can get at any Walmart.
