Pellet rifle "rediscovered", any air rifle folks ? caution, TMI

Here is a air rifle for you It's a Daystate Air Ranger 25cal air rifle it was a 80ft model, now after some lovin it is over 110ft it sends a 40gr pellet 1111FPS. The little tank on the front of the stock is filled with a scuba tank to 3500 psi, it has the same energy as a 22 loaded with stingers.

I've enjoyed air rifles and pistols as well. First one was a Crossman pump style pistol in the early '80s. I thought it was the cat's meow at 10+ pumps until a true enthusiast shared and shot his RWS 48 in a break-barrel spring piston rifle. He cocked it once (they were new to me then regarding how they operated and what they actually were), and I thought yeah right... it won't have much power. He smoked a mourning dove at 25yds., launched it off the branch, feathers were flying, and I'll never forget that first "thwop" sound I heard & enjoyed when the pellet connected on its target... I was instantly hooked! I went on a mission to earn extra side money during a summer and eventually ordered an RWS 52 with the side cocking lever. I still have that beauty nearly 40 yrs. later and it still shoots flawlessly.

I'm not sure you'll find many guys in this hobby or sport that hasn't dabbled in air rifles at some point in there life. I mean the air rifle is what gets alot of young people involved in shooting to begin with. I still own 2-3 of them and occasionally need to bring it out for critter control. I have a Sheridan blue streak that needs some attention with I believe a seal leak. Doesn't seem to hold air. If it does, it's maybe 4 pumps powerful when 8 pumps are in it. About two years ago I purchased a Benjamin/Crosman Nitro XL2200. Nothing even close in accuracy to my Sheridan. Matter of fact, I couldn't hit a rabbit with it at 25 yards. Tried several different pellets in weight and make and still no luck. I'm liking the Marauder I'm seeing here. I've looked at them before but decided on the Nitro. Bad decision.

Classic looks! Bet it's heavy, too.

Amazing - .25 cal "air rifle" faster / or as fast as .22 cal rimfire ?!

Amazon has a few blue streak O ring kits, etc.
The Sheridan has a reputation for accuracy. I had one when I was a teenager.
Sold it and and a Winchester 12 ga. shotgun @ age 17? Then set guns aside for a few years.
Girls seemed much more interesting, and date money was needed.

I ran across this fine shooter while shuffling thru the safe, looking for, what; I can't remember.
I keep all rifles in socks, with tags, so they all look alike, sorta.

This is a Beeman RX-1, .20 cal pellet rifle. It is a single shot air driven ( vs springs) piston.
Bought it in 1991(?).

I ordered some .20 cal pellets last week and went to it.

It's been fun shooting off bags at 10 meters- it has a recoil like a 22-250, oddly.
Great trigger, made in Germany. Easy to clean :).

I'm using open sights - and I have a scope mount on the way.
The limiting factor in accuracy is me, for sure.

May 27 2021 / rifle + target pix.

June 7 Edit: Canned the scope - too much recoil...horrible groups.
A pellet rifle shows poor technique - on the target, for sure.
That's a nice rifle. So much fun shooting it

Yep it's extremely accurate. I just would like one that's equally accurate but effective at a bit longer ranges. 50 yards would be about right having enough power to kill small game. The Blue streak will do it but doesn't have quite enough power behind the pellet for coins or ground hogs. I've been using my .17 HMR but would like something a little quieter.

Thanks. It was a tank carrying it around as a teenager! And it certainly wasn't an ideal set up for holding it long while free-hand target shooting. One advantage was it did soften the dual recoil. Pictured is the original RWS scope I mounted on it, and it still holds its point of aim today.

Funny, I have an old Blue Streak and decided I would look around for a good spring piston air gun. The PCP's would be too much trouble for me to keep charged in my part of the woods. I looked on Pyramid Air's website and everything I looked at was sold out. Looks like they are either profiting or ailing from the current catastrophe as well.

i have a webley .177 since 1983. i put 7,000 rnds through it (i still tally the rounds i shoot through my guns).
my mom paid me a bounty on chipmunks to keep out of her garden. i decimated the chipmunk population so completely, that 35yrs later, there's still no chipmunks on the property!

Agreed. High end PCP's - easily as much $$ as a centerfire, with the tank, etc. (?) But the ammo is available, generally and inexpensive. And they are lethal.

This Bad Boy is one of my favorites, it will launch a 240gr @ 1250fps and the It's good for 10 good shots then they start to fall off but can still get the job done.
It's a 45cal Air Force Texan,
That is a moderator all you hear is a wooosh then impact.LOL
It has an operating pressure of 4500PSI and now has a carbon fibre tank
