1st fire on Alpha 6BRA?

I will be using H4895 w 105s and don't want to loosen primer pockets. Is it important to use a lighter charge or just jump to my accuracy load - 30.4 / 30.6gr.

The first 100 I shot I think I loaded at 30.0 gn Varget. The next couple hundred I just did load development on. Never noticed a big shift from firing to firing once I found the load it liked.

I’d just run a normal load with the new case design. I think I ran a mandrel down them for prep. Keep in mind your accuracy node is probably going to drop in powder weight.

I do it because I like to have a firing on it in the chamber I’m going to use it in. I do the same thing with .284, 6BR, etc... I’ve seen enough variance in velocity between virgin brass and 1 time shot to do this.

I "fire formed" in a match with a top node load. It tuned to the exact same kernel of powder on the second cycle. It was completely competitive fire forming, and did not seem to do any harm to the cases.

Never used Alpha brass but I load Lapua brass to my standard load. It shoots exactly the same as it does after it's been shot. Velocity & accuracy.
