Fur friendly 6mm bullet in the 80gr to 95 gr. Range

Just looking for any experience and advice on a fur friendly bullet in .243/6mm for my 6mm Ackley. I Developed a load for my 6mm ackley using a 90 gr. Tipped game king and H4831sc. Its been a very accurate and consistent load with low e.s. and s.d. at 3500 FPS, having said that I know its a fairly high velocity. The tipped game king leaves some pretty large exits ( even when not hitting dense bone). Can anyone suggest a better bullet? Anyone have experience with the 90 gr. Scenar? Or any of the 95gr barnes LRX? Any help is appreciated.

Seems most manufacturers have discontinued their FMJ's....sierra and speer use to have 90 grain FMJ but are all discontinued. When you say brass bullets are you referring to barnes or other monolithic bullets?

A stout big game bullet like the 85 Grain TSX or a 100 grain Partition work pretty well on coyote fur. I've used both with a vanilla 243 and the damage is not bad. They expand enough for quick kills too. Not like FMJ's, that seem to create runners when shot. Both, the TSX and NPT will almost always leaves two holes but manageable if sewing is needed. Fringe hits and bad angles will still leave a mess, but many bullets will do that.

The Sierra #1515 80 grain Biltz Varminter bullets has been fur friendly for myself out of a 6x45 bolt gun at 3000fps.

I may have to look at backing down the speed, its a shame to build a hotrod and then drive it like a Sunday grocery getter!

Thank you- I have never read this before- now I will have to give them a try! Much appreciated.
 
Excessive speed is the enemy! I have tried many, many combinations over the years. One of the best I found was an 87 V-max at around 3000 fps. Quite a few clean kills over 500 yds. And they still expanded nicely at that distance. Usually about a one inch exit. Up close many do not exit, for a great hide. A fine line between good and a bomb! FMJ is not the answer, many will run to the next zip code! Never to be seen again.

Just one man’s opinion but if I was using one of my 6mm rounds pushed fast and I was trying to save pelts, I wouldn’t be using one of those heavy bullets. I would be pushing a light varmint bullet (60 - 75 grains) fast to expand and stay inside the varmint. Wouldn’t waste my time on anything with a fmj.
