Fur friendly 6mm bullet in the 80gr to 95 gr. Range

A thickly Jacketed and HEAVY weight,.. Sierra Match King Bullet,.. will go on through, LIKE,. a FMJ !
Sierra even tells you to,.. NOT use them,.. on Big Game.
You have, TWO "choices" Fast and light that, "Blow up", internally as stated above or, thick Match, Jackets with, the small Holes. Try Sierra's # 1537 or, # 1570,.. at REASONABLE Velocities and learn to track, Blood Trails if, necessary !

Heavy would be my preferred route to try, the gun has an 8 twist and I would like to utilize it, lots of flat open and windy country here in Southern Saskatchewan.

that just dropped my jaw... I mean sure it sounds possible .. but is that really a thing? Do you do it with lighter or heavier bullets?
Friend of mine came to a steel shoot 500 M. not paper, but he did well.
i was surprised. 308 don't know bullet weight.

Just looking for any experience and advice on a fur friendly bullet in .243/6mm for my 6mm Ackley. I Developed a load for my 6mm ackley using a 90 gr. Tipped game king and H4831sc. Its been a very accurate and consistent load with low e.s. and s.d. at 3500 FPS, having said that I know its a fairly high velocity. The tipped game king leaves some pretty large exits ( even when not hitting dense bone). Can anyone suggest a better bullet? Anyone have experience with the 90 gr. Scenar? Or any of the 95gr barnes LRX? Any help is appreciated.

80gr Berger HP Varmint has been good out of the 6-284 so far.

If you can find them, the old Sierra 80 grain Single Shot Pistol bullets are very fur friendly out of a .243 rifle. You will only get one hole most of the time.

When shot out of a shorter barrel or a smaller cartridge (I shoot them in a 6X45) they perform like they should with good expansion and penetration.

turn a BT around backwards,,,,Roger
this is also a great way to use your rifle to turkey hunt,,,,if they come within 200 yds they are in range !!! ,,,,obviously you dont aim for the head,,,,it allows you to use your deer rifle with good scope and you dont need to buy a "turkey" shot gun and all the "special" ammo required,,,,you can slow them wayyyyy down (I like them ~1600 fps) using pistol/shotgun powders,,,,this is reloading at its best for a specefic use,,,Roger

Bullet link You will have to sneak over the border to get them.

"A great performing 99% copper bullet retains up to 100% or its weight. The valve at the tip of the bullet opens immediately on impact, leading the bullet to expand symmetrically and without shattering. This high tech bullet design gives a maximal shock effect and it workds perfectly within terminal velocities of 1640 fps to 3280 fps. The Naturalis is extremenly effective by giving a clean shot and minimizes meat loss. Unique Lapua technology."

I would need to take out a loan to buy them. :D

A customer of mine is running the Sierra 95 matchkings out of his 6-284. He has taken 8 yotes with it that I know of. Quarter size exit holes so far is what he had been seeing.

I will have to try them, they must have a thicker jacket than the 90 TGK

The 80 grain Hornady GMX should work like the old fmj's on small varmints. Or the Barnes. If you have to stay unleaded. They don't even expand much on large game.

I shot the 80g Berger at 3600, left quarter size holes through the ribs. Shoulder shots make a mess, as you could imagine.

I was more into making the hair fly than saving fur, so I quit using the 80g Berger and went to the 80g Sierra.
Is that the 80 gr. Blitz king?

No such thing as an 80g Blitz king, that I know of.

80g Blitz is a boat tail bullet, with a lead tip, and they like to touch the lands.
