6mm Creedmoor and 6BRA/Dasher?

To make a long story short, after being out of bench rest for a couple of years I thought I’d get back in but would lead a simpler life by shooting factory class 300 and 600 yard BR with factory ammo. Not for the first time in my life, I have to admit that I’d not really and thoroughly t thought the matter through. Once I started buying quality 6CM ammo: Hornady Match and Berger, I realized that the dollars were adding up faster than I’d anticipated.

I’m shooting a Savage 110 Elite and am very satisfied with it...for a factory rifle Savage produces a good shooting barrel. Here’s five shot group at 600 yards. If I’d known I would be back handloading, I would have gotten a 6BR chambered rifle.

I’ve got almost 1000 rounds through this barrel, and am beginning to think about the next one....get another 6 Creedmoor aftermarket, or get a 6BRA or Dasher barrel?

For the 300 and 600 yard bench matches I shoot, the BR format is ideal....less powder, less recoil and PERHAPS more accuracy...at least according to many of the BRA’s advocates. On the other hand, recoil is not a big deal to me shooting on the bench, and I’m shooting Berger’s 109 grain bullet and I’m not sure that would work with the smaller case capacity....roughly 41 grains of water with the Dasher versus 50 with the 6CM.

I’m likely over-thinking this whole issue, as opposed to how I “under thought” my process getting into the 6 Creedmoor.

But, I’m 80 years old, retired and have the time to ruminate about such matters, so why not ask you guys what you think?

Here’s my current rifle....

I think it will work to shoot the 109s with a Dasher. A friend of mine is shooting 105 Berger’s with his 6 BRA. Nice-looking GSH.

George, If you were to get a 6 Dasher bbl you could get it chambered to shoot the bullet of your choice, or am I missing something?
If you wanted to shoot Berger 105 Hybrids, in either Dasher, BR or BRA, I think you would do fine and if you wanted to keep shooting your current Berger 109 bullet you could do fine as well.
Here is the page that describes that 109. If you have the 1:7.5 twist you have no problem. A 1:8 twist is a little marginal with a SF of 1.4 so as long as you order the right twist and chamber, you should be able to shoot what you want.
