Skip's annealer

Having recently finished a build of a Skip's annealer design (cake pan, no auto feed) i made the pan depth 1.25" which works for 5.56 to 30-06, but I also have shorter brass that the pan is just a little too deep. I'm thinking 1" deep will work for 6br and clear the shoulder so it doesn't get hot. But what about 221FB and 20VarTarg. I would like to be able to handle those in the future as I will probably build one eventually.

Anyone run short cases on one of these annealers?

I built the same setup. For the shorter cases I have a spacer which fits in the
bottom of the pan and also a spacer for the feed ramp. The depth of both surfaces need to line up so it feeds properly. No need to build a second annealer. I’ll try posting pictures later .

In the mean time, save your pennies for an AMP. I played with mine all night tonight. I've had it for 2 years, just got to use it for the first time... it makes you giggle and all you wanna do is annealing all the brass you have... worth every penny, the fight with the wife, and the kissing up I had to do.

I was wondering about spacers, some say they work, some say they don't. I was considering just a second drum, rather than an entire annealer. Pics would help when you get them. Thanks.

The picture on top has the spacers installed. Picture on the bottom has the two spacers removed and sitting in front of the unit. The rod that keeps the cases on the drum also slides in and out. The flame is also adjustable in and out as well as up and down. Hope this helps.

I made my Skips a couple years ago. I have 2 cake pans. One will do 6.5x55 or .30-06, and the shallow pan will do 6 BR and its wildcats.
I work for a manufacturing company (office guy) so I had one of the men in the tool room cut one pan shallower, and he also made the case feed drum out of delrin for me (I have the feed tray).
A great mod is adding a propane pressure regulator. I can setup again very quick and only run 2-3 cases thru to tweek the speed a bit - or sometimes no adjustment needed.
See this video and look at the author's comments for links to buy the parts.
** Note - I needed to remove a spring loaded plunger in the base of the torch for it to work (throw away bottles have more pressure than I use ~ 8 psi, so its not enough pressure to allow propane past that plunger)

What depth did you use for 6br? I have brass that I can use to guesstimate, but I will likely build a 221FB or 20VT in the future and would like the same drum to handle those.
