It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

Hello everyone, I'm Tom and this is my first post. I'm a lifetime hunter and shooter as well as a USMC combat veteran. I've been looking for a good forum that focused on precision shooting and have heard great things about this one.

This is no big majestic elk, but he provided a fun time and a very satisfying meal. I spent a few days in the Mojave National Preserve recently, and was doing some upland/small game hunting. After along afternoon of hiking, this guy ran out and I busted him at about 30 yards. My trusty Winchester 1300 Ranger 28" modified choked with a rattlecan paint job, sent a 3" fiocchi #4 steel load through a bit of brush = stone dead. I really didn't think about the shot as I was almost back to my camp and was lamenting that I wouldn't have any meat for dinner (I just brought vegetables and seasonings to motivate myself to harvest something). But I was very happy to be able to harvest a delicious dinner. I haven't had rabbit in over 20 years, and forgot how wonderful they can taste! He went in my dutch oven and was braised for about 1.5 hours. My oh my what a great trip!

I needed to de-stress and get some social distance anyway, and spending time in wildlands always renews me in so many ways.

I hope everyone is staying safe and motivated in 2021.

Semper Fi,
Tom

This years rabbit hunt on my place.....a great bunch of guys to hunt with, I always get the job of taking the pictures. This amazing pack of dogs is owned and trained by Jerry, the guy on the far left. 10 rabbits in four hours, and we left plenty of "misses" for next year!!View attachment 1225692
Oh man that is a serious trophy photo! I'd rather hunt bunnies on a beagle than shoot a big ten point!
