6BRA load data

I am sure someone has mentioned this earlier. But guys be careful and work up loads in your individual barrel. Especially note that a barrel that is .236 internal diameter will need about a grain less powder than a .237 to get the same velosity. So, a load that is warm in a .237 might blow a primer and seize the bolt in a .236!

I’d say your right. I shot two 12 twists last year in UBR a .236 brux and a .237 krieger. The Krieger would take a right smart more 8208 than the brux with 80 gr bullets.

Would recommend you test in smaller powder increments. .2 vs .3 grains and extend the distance if you can. With that said, the 108s seem to shoot very well in the high 2800-low 2900 fps range.

Did this test by Eric Cortina’s method. New gun,new method....

When you get down to a close .1 then refine it a bit. I load to the second decimal (.00) instead of just to tenths. Some go to .000 if they have the equipment.

If you are using a long extruded powder, and a dispenser or scale that only reads down to tenths of a grain, you can get close by going up to the next tenth then removing a few grains with tweezers.

Ex. If you want 30.48, weigh out 30.5 grains then remove grains 2 at a time until you get to 30.4. Subtract the difference to determine how many are in a tenth of a grain and you will be reasonably close. More accurate than 10ths in any case.
I have a fax-120 AutoTrickler setup. I’m going to try again with 30.90- 31.80 in .15 increments at .020 jump.. to be continued

I can tell you that Varget {AR2208} weighs .02 per granule of powder.... Always have a 6" long pair of tweezers to add or subtract to the charge when my A&D FX-120 scale throws an over or under of a .02...

Unknown for sure(probably Hart) 21" used BR barrel, .236 bore, 14T, 6 BRA with zero freebore or close to it(borrowed the reamer), non neck turned brass.

65g-68g benchrest bullets with .003 jam, .266 bushing, 30.3g of xbr 8208 shoots very, very tiny groups, day after day after day. Interesting that .268 and .267 bushings shot in the threes. Benchmark & H322, (old Scotland powder) I never found a bug hole load . Played with 205, CCI br-4, cci 450, and 7 1/2 was a hands down winner with no close contender. If the bullet does not jam, the group opens up.

I had just about given up on the barrel and was ready to toss it, and on a lark I tried the XBR 8208 hit a home run, real quick, then just a matter of fine tuning. 70g tnt shot some amazing groups with 30.0g xbr 8208.

With slow twists, I will reserve judgement as to whether or not this case is as easy to tune as a std 6 BR used as a varmint rifle with lighter bullets.

I use 12 twists and 80 gr bullets with 8208. In .236 barrels I use 32 to 32.5 grs and in .237 barrels I use 32.8 to 33.4 running in the 3350 fps range.
I have used 68s but had best groups with LT32 at around 31 grs and 3500 fps
