Thats a really slow lot of powder or barrel. I've shot several different lots of varget in a Bra and never seen it that slow. My current lot is 31.4 and a 105 and it's 2940ish. Last lot was 32.1 and 2960 all in 28 inch barrels. 32.1 in New lot is around 3000 fps. When I got to 33.5 I started to get a bit of bolt lift resistence. 32.9 33.0 33.1 all shot together group wise so I picked the low pressure version. I don't get your point. If your not comfortable shooting there, don't. At 2800 it shot in a tiny hole but I want more and still a small hole. So now at 2940 I still feel a bit puny after many years of 6BRX at 2990.

KriegerWhat barrel?
I shoot mine at 2930. I would’ve liked more velocity but I was getting heavy bolt lifts. I find that prioritizing an accurate load with a wide node is worth more points than the extra velocity anyways. When I got to 33.5 I started to get a bit of bolt lift resistence. 32.9 33.0 33.1 all shot together group wise so I picked the low pressure version. My thoughts exactly. I have Peterson 6BR brass that now has over 15 loads on it {SS pin wet cleaned and annealed @ time} and haven’t lost a case to primer pocket failure running 30.1gr of Varget/AR2208, CCI450’s with 107’s running at 2’850fps.Would like to see how many firings you get on that brass. When I went north of 3000fps the primer pockets loosened up between 4-6 firings. Back down in the 2900's now for me.
Slung up first shot out left. Clicked right and put 4 more in the X. 0.020” jump seems to work. Longer distance and larger sample size nextPlaying with 110 Atip and checking velocity… was pleased to see 2900 fps at 31.0 gr Varget. Same velo in shoot the 105’s with H4895.
What neck tension do you use to achieve a trustworthy and repeatable jam of .024? IOW, what is the chamber neck OD if you are using a .261 bushing?A couple powder ladders with different bushings and one seating ladder from last week in perpetration for our upcoming nationals.
This barrel seems to like Varget so that’s what I’m feeding it.
All testing is at 1000 yards, I’m hoping to be competitive.

My lastest barrel seems to be preferring varget as well and same area as yours.A couple powder ladders with different bushings and one seating ladder from last week in perpetration for our upcoming nationals.

I have a .268 neck with a .265 loaded round, a .261 bushing applies .004 bullet hold that maintains depth and if I need to eject a round I’m ok, It will shoot on a .260 but not much better. What neck tension do you use to achieve a trustworthy and repeatable jam of .024? IOW, what is the chamber neck OD if you are using a .261 bushing?
Thanks

got couple kegs of the new 8.8lb Varget last week, I'm gonna give it a try in my new BRA barrel, few guys I know have been shooting small using it.A lot of guys seem to be having better luck with varget on these newer barrels. I find it interesting.
Ya this year a lot of barrels have been liking it over 4895. Maybe its the steel.got couple kegs of the new 8.8lb Varget last week, I'm gonna give it a try in my new BRA barrel, few guys I know have been shooting small using it.
Still shows In Stock at Powder Valley.I had to google the 8.8 part, when did that happen ?
