Vortex's new cartridge

After watching the video I'm convinced that this is some kind of a weird joke. No company would introduce a new cartridge/caliber in this manner. The testing would all be handled by sharper guys than those 3 (well sharper than two of them for sure) and in private, not on some hokey video.

I think this was just some hair brained project from the Vortex Nation podcast guys.

Vortex has some smart people working there, and some world class shooters; one of whom is a member here who doesn't post much outside the comp forum.

It's dumb, but I suspect we're taking this a little more seriously than they had intended.

Not to disparage those that like the 6.5 bullet diameter but, 6.5 this and 6.5 that, blah blah blah blah blah. It’s like the 6.5 bullet diameter has been found to have the miracle properties of Unatainium. Much ado about nothing.

I’m waiting for someone to develop a 23 or 29 caliber bullet extolling the virtues of those diameters.

Having listened to these guys talk about the scopes they literally “make”/sell for a profession we are definitely not the target market for their content. Even about subject matter they work with every day, much less wildcatting.

I hope they are having fun.

What i find funny (havent watched the video) is that one of the guys in the video answered your email

Yep, much to my chagrin...:(

That's the conclusion I came to. Much to do about nothing. Hopefully they got their jollies about how many folks fell for it.

How bout a 26nosler? Its a heckuva round.
as far as the dimensions they said nobody was going to produce it so i guess its an april fools thing not knowing what month it is
Yeah, the 130gn class hunters going 3500+ is no joke!
Looks to me like the 26 Nosler would be closest to a 6.5-300PRC + 0.040". I think if I were putting something together, I'd go 6.5-300PRC just to use the nicer brass.

All that said, I'm kinda on a kick going the other direction. I'm really enjoying my 20 Vartarg and have been thinking about a 222AI with an 8 twist barrel to shoot 80gn bullets.

Or the 6.5 Leopard (6.5-270 WSM).

7-300prc maybe?

7-300prc maybe?
I've always had a sweet spot for the 257 Weatherby Mag, particularly in an extra fancy Mark V. I think I'd actually be more tempted to go to a 25-300PRC rather than the 7mm if I were to lose my senses and embrace the crazy.

Brett give them a call and suggest it, maybe you can become the Vice President
of marketing, cause they don't have a clue.
Now I'd watch their dumb ass video if it was a 7-300PRC

I honestly dont know why Hornady didn't do it.
It's no secret I love my run of the mill 30-06 but when looking at 7mm bullets I can't help but notice the BC's of the 180gr bullet in comparison to the 180 .30cal offerings.
There is none really the 30 is lacking.
The 6.5 does seem to be the latest craze, and I'm a part of that. Lol

What really puzzles me about this
6.5 "Bullshit Cartridge" is they chose a 140gr bullet. Why they didn't they go with 1 of the 6.5 heavies in the 150 class is beyond me.
