What if the brains of the vortex operation were on that videoAfter watching the video I'm convinced that this is some kind of a weird joke. No company would introduce a new cartridge/caliber in this manner. The testing would all be handled by sharper guys than those 3 (well sharper than two of them for sure) and in private, not on some hokey video.
Wow RCC brass.. They wasted, and I mean wasted a lot of money for what purpose??So I just noticed they got custom RCC brass made, that is not cheap! IMO, that takes some fun out of wildcatting.
What i find funny (havent watched the video) is that one of the guys in the video answered your email
I think this was just some hair brained project from the Vortex Nation podcast guys.
Vortex has some smart people working there, and some world class shooters; one of whom is a member here who doesn't post much outside the comp forum.
It's dumb, but I suspect we're taking this a little more seriously than they had intended.
Just like the new Weatherby 6.5 RPM. What a swing and a miss that was...Looks like a rebated rim like maybe a short 6.5x284?
Whatever it is im sure the PRS guys need it. Just in time to fill a gap in the 6.5mm cartridges we currently have.
It would certainly explain a lot. What if the brains of the vortex operation were on that video
And is it considered a wildcat if it has a proper headstamp on it...I don't think so. Just my .02 CentsSo I just noticed they got custom RCC brass made, that is not cheap! IMO, that takes some fun out of wildcatting.
Yeah, the 130gn class hunters going 3500+ is no joke! How bout a 26nosler? Its a heckuva round.
as far as the dimensions they said nobody was going to produce it so i guess its an april fools thing not knowing what month it is
Or the 6.5 Leopard (6.5-270 WSM).Yeah, the 130gn class hunters going 3500+ is no joke!
Looks to me like the 26 Nosler would be closest to a 6.5-300PRC + 0.040". I think if I were putting something together, I'd go 6.5-300PRC just to use the nicer brass.
All that said, I'm kinda on a kick going the other direction. I'm really enjoying my 20 Vartarg and have been thinking about a 222AI with an 8 twist barrel to shoot 80gn bullets.
7-300prc maybe?Yeah, the 130gn class hunters going 3500+ is no joke!

I've always had a sweet spot for the 257 Weatherby Mag, particularly in an extra fancy Mark V. I think I'd actually be more tempted to go to a 25-300PRC rather than the 7mm if I were to lose my senses and embrace the crazy.7-300prc maybe?
I honestly dont know why Hornady didn't do it.Brett give them a call and suggest it, maybe you can become the Vice President
of marketing, cause they don't have a clue.
Now I'd watch their dumb ass video if it was a 7-300PRC
