My 22BR likes the 85.5 Berger
I played with the 95smk in 22brx this winter and spring. Got them above 3100 and very accurate (see seating test), but it became an unsafe load when it warmed up so backed it down.

The 600 yd target is the 95smk mid 3000's but locked up the bolt on shot #8. Haven't had time to get back to this project as the shooting season started for me (TR shooter). Will retry with 95s below 3000 and 80-90s again this winter.

Here is a 1000-yd target for fun

Very nice, what was your barrel length, twist, and powder you used?
I'm currently building a 22br to shoot heavy .224" bullets. My goal is to get 95gr SMKs close to 3000fps from a 28" barrel. The freebore on the reamer is .195" so that should give me a bit more capacity.
Anyone have any experience with this combo?
I tried both H4350 and Varget with 95gr SMKs. No big surprise but varget turned out to be more consistent. 30grs of Varget with an 11 shot string(over 2 days) hitting 2987fps 2 SD/7 ES and a 12 shot string hitting 2985fps 3 SD/10 ES with all 23 shots falling into the 10 ES.
Only problem I'm having at the moment is I'm getting flyers. Small .2" or .3" 4shot groups with 1 that brings it between .5" and .7". So I'm going to tweak it a bit to see if I can get all the shots to fall into the group
EEK, that's cooking. I was getting bad pressure on Varget at 28gns!
I have had persistent fliers with the 90 VLD and the 95SMK that no amount of tuning seemed to get rid of. The 88ELD and the 85.5 Hybrid are better about not throwing one out. I was able to drive the 85.5 so much faster that it completely wiped out any advantage the 95SMK had out to 1000 yards: http://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/my-new-22br.3981971/page-3#post-37711564 - 3200fps. I'm sure RL-17 would have given even more speed, but my gun doesn't like it. You may find you can get a lot more speed with your long freebore and a powder like RL-16 or 17, if your gun likes it.
i think my 22br is a 12T. Kind of a waste -- Good thing its a cheap barrel i wont cry about throwing away. i guess i can cook some 4000 fps woodchuck loads out of it. would like to try some of these heavier bullets - and i do have a barrel coming- mabie this will happen. Sorry couldnt help but looks like youre on the right track. ThanksHow fast are you shooting the 85.5?
