Nightforce...the best or......?

I can tell you this for sure. I have had POI issues twice with NF and both times they said no problem, your mounts and mounting procedures are wrong, nothing wrong with the scope. Funny, put the scope back on worked fine in the same mounts. Turned me off for sure. I really liked my 12x42 BR models but I sold them, just tell me the truth about what you repaired I understand mechanical things have issues, don't give me a line of b.s. I have talked to quite a few shooters whose experince with NF mirrors mine.
Thanks for the info

In the market for a new br scope. I have narrowed it down to two. The Nightforce comp 15x55 or the Sightron SVSS Ed. Can anyone tell me if the new Nightforce are still having poi problems or has the problem been fixed. Would really appreciate any help on these two scopes Thanks

I have 2 NF Comps and I know a bunch of guys who also have one or two of them. Not one of us has ever experienced any "holding POI" problems with any of them.

Anything can break but there are also about two dozen things that can make you suddenly lose POI, and none of them has anything to do with the internals of the scope.

There are a few scopes that have better clarity than a NF Comp (like Swarovski, for instance). However, it is only a tiny bit better and nothing else I have seen comes close when you factor in all the important features, at least not for money. Every few years there is some new wonder-scope released on the market that is supposed to be the new NF-killer. Yeah, right.

What discipline do you shoot? Does you equipment let you shoot under a .1 at 100 ? If not how would you know? I had 5 of them and all had issues and NONE were fixed by NF.... jim

Many years ago I was told that I was a fool to buy anything but a Leupold. I had already owned a Leupold or two.. Very few had even heard of Nightforce. I bought one anyway. I've owned a Nightforce in some configuration for 20 years now. They are great scopes. So are the Leupolds. I have been in the market for a new scope for about a year. I've been told that I was a fool to buy anything but a Nightforce, but I did anyway. I guess I'll never learn to do as I'm told.

Guess I have to ask what you bought lol

Are u happy with it ?

It's the brightest, clearest scope I've ever owned. The parallax adjustment is amazing.
I have not used it in competition yet. Time will tell.

If you ordered yours from Lancexxx you'll have it in a couple of days. Let us know what you think.

Thank you sir for the info. !! Can’t wait till it gets here. Rings should be here tomorrow hopefully it’s not far behind.

Shows the differences in the disciplines. I'd bet that just about any top competitor in XTC would never notice a change in POI that is on the order of 0.1 MOA.

yep, your right there XTC uses a 4.5 power scope on the AR's and when the do shoot a match rifle at long range, even Tube said he could only hold 5" at 1000. That is why the targets are so big.

Wouldn't say that too loud they may be on the brown truck next week. I know some notable shooters that two fall apart the same week.... jim

I have a bunch of NF's including two 15-55 Comp's. Comp's are clearly the favorite at our midrange (600 yd) matches, and a lot of them are on very expensive, custom rifles. If they exhibited any problem at all those guys would drop them like piece of freshly annealed brass. And yet I've never even heard of a Comp failing in any way.

Except on the Internet. ;)

I can list about a dozen things that "mysteriously" make a rifle suddenly start shooting off its usual POI, and none of them involve the internals of the scope, and yet that is always the first thing people suspect when it happens.

Buy whatever blows your skirt up, but the idea that a Sightron or a Vortex is going to hold up better than a Nightforce is laughable.

Go look at what scopes the guys shooting 50-cals have sometime.

There are different scope models with different designs. Mainly the erector tube spring. They perform differently, some better than others. Without a scope checker you never will hear about any problems unless a total failure happens. Its pretty hard to tell your poi is shifting .1-.2 moa shooting long range matches, especially if your shooting score. It took me a whole season of changing parts and wondering why I could not make my light gun shoot any smaller than 5" 10 shot groups at 1k before I figured out the scope was shifting almost .2 moa, using a scope checker. This is not brand specific, but if your not checking you truly do not know.

What Scope checker do you recommend?

The people I said are at the top of their discipline, and I would be glad to PM you their names. And it sure isn't Laughable that those two brands are test better than a NF comp. Now as Alex stated they have ben getting small point of impact shift nothing big but at BR. it is a killer but not to a 50 cal. so they wouldn't even know they have it... jim

Nightforce doesn't like this but it's a good thing in my opinion of Nightforce. Nightforce is probably the largest sponsor/donor to F-Class and Benchrest etc. You get a lot of these on the classifieds because they won it or took off the old scope and put on the new one they won..
