Indeed. I just heard her on FOX saying the goal is to sue and then disband the NRA.

We'll see how this one goes.....ain't gonna be pretty.

Inevitable effect of when a large representative organization loses all credibility in the minds of the wider public. Now, reach for the popcorn.

I saw that on Fox too.
Do some organizations stray into lavish extras? Unfortunately, yes.
So who is going to sue the Clinton Foundation? I'm sure there's plenty of dirt there too.

Very interesting how she thinks she can disband, 8 million plus members of the NRA. Many are fellow lawyers like her, plus LE, Military, professional and many blue collar workers, from every walk in this Old Republic's life.

Part of the Report I just heard said LaPierre set himself up with a 17 Million Dollar Early Retirement Plan without the approval of the NRA Board . That and private Jet Trips , etc . makes one very suspicious .

Addressing mishandled funds is a good thing for sure. Disbanding the organization seems to be a not so rational request for relief. How about - pay all the money back to the organization that you wrongfully funneled for personal use.

And, if appropriate, criminally prosecute for embezzlement. That would send the right message for sure. Disbanding the organization is more like a political agenda than addressing the wrong.

He may have violated NRA policy, but did he break any laws?
Yeah. Maybe. If he is writing off stuff that shouldn’t be, then the opposite of that is he needs to claim the perks and benefits as income. Tax Fraud. Guys have gone to jail for using company assets to benefit them personally, and not claiming it. Usually turned in by an angry ex wife or a disgruntled employee.

Regardless of whether the suit has merit, all of the NRA's time and resources will now be focused on answering the suit. Not good any way it goes.

I totally agree - it is absolutely politically motivated! But it's really a stretch to think that any organization can disbanded because it's executives lined their pockets with the organization's funds. If that were truly the case, then half of the big "non-profits" in this country would likely cease to exist. My question is - why does it take a politically motivated AG investigation to enlighten us poor schmucks, that our leadership has been corrupt for a long time? Isn't the main job of the Board of Directors one of oversight?

If even half of what is alleged is true, then the NRA has a lot to answer for, but I don't think it's the AG for NY that should be asking the questions.

The NRA doesn't have any money and in fact is $36m short. There's a separate but simultaneous civil suit filed in DC against the NRA Foundation, the NRA's charitable wing, for illegally funding the NRA.

As for oversight, members have been asleep at the switch for many years... Plus ca change... The summons covers the many issues with compliance and oversight including 'retaliation against dissidents on the board' and various suggested violations of NY law by the board's audit committee:

Gonna be interesting

I was suspicious when La Pierre was spending $150,000 a suit and his 5 million dollars house and they keeping asking for more money from the members. nilebartam

I believe that LaPierre tied the can to Ollie North and several board members when they started asking questions a few years ago.
