Classic car guys / hot rods

I am very sorry to say that I don't own any of the old muscle cars any longer. However, I sure do love them! I had a '69 Charger R/T 440 Six Pack. My 3 TOP FAVS are: 1.) '67 Chevy Camaro Z28 with the 302 engine.; 2.) '69 Challenger T/A 340 Six Pack and last but not least 3.) '68 Corvette Stingray with the very, very rare 454 LS6 engine. Having said all that, I am appreciative of everyone here who posted their awesome vehicles! Thank You!

I was just cleaning out the shop in the last few weeks and found pictures I thought were lost. They were in a box of stuff from my desk when I retired 16 years ago. Among them were some of the cars I had. Photo quality is pretty bad, but glad I found them.

I'm absolutely positive those pictures will never turn up anywhere!! Not my doing:).

I’m about to pick up a 68 C10 Stepside once I finish moving into a house with more garage space. It’s just coming back from a frame off rebuild, so it will be a lot nicer than the beaters that I drove as a young man.

The muscle cars I grew up with in the mid 60s to early 70s now cost more than I care to pay, but I picked up a good deal on this low mileage little beast last year: 2014 Mustang GT 5.0 with the Track Pac package. It would be nice to have the HP of the Shelbys, but this thing spins the rear wheels so effortlessly in the first 3 gears (6 speed manual; the Track Pack was only offered on stick shift GTs) that I don't know what I'd do with more than the rated 420 hp.

I was at the right age in the middle of the Muscle Car era. Had a number of them over the years. 1967 D Pack Plymouth Baracuda with the 273 D Dart Engine, 1968 Baldwin Motion 426 Competition Hemi Road Runner, 1969 Yenko Camaro (Sure wish I had held onto that, bought it new at Byrns Brothers Chevrolet, who was making the market for Don that year. Bought it for $3,890.00 and sold it for $2,400.00 - oh well another of lifes mistakes) 1970 LT-1 Z-28 Camaro. That was it until this 1 of 19 L-89 427/435 HP matching number roadster. Factory Sidepipes.

Then it was my Vette Phase - 63 Split Window 327/250, 64 327/375 Fuely, 65 327/365 HO , 66 396/425, 67 327/350 all before the Rat Motor

The one I always wanted and have never bought is a 65 Goat. Don't care if it is a roadster or hard top nor a 335 or 360 HP model, but want and original 4 speed. Still looking.

Has been in our family since 1995 and is my sons car now. It took us 10 yrs to complete...70 El Camino

The only pics i would be able to show would be some of the drag cars i built, all the hot rods always turned into race cars except for the 36 chevy pickup. I sold it to a policeman from Johnday on a promise he would use it for a D.A.R.E. program. It was your basic 327/250hp 4-speed.

Not enough Like buttons. Someone mentioned a Goat. That might be one I would break down for. A guy I worked with in the service bought a new 67 Goat with his reinlistment bonus. It was a beast and we had some good times in it.

Had a number of them over the years.
Wow! some rare cars in that post. Mine were fairly common: 61 Impala bubbletop, new 69 Road Runner 410 gears 4-speed, 68 Charger R/T, 69 GTO convertable 4-speed, 57 Chevy, 56 Chevy, then a 71 El Camino, then marriage and kids.

There was a 61 Impala SS ? with the 409,bench seats. they are rare.

While I still have regrets selling my 71 Hemi Challenger back in 1995 just after my first born child, I can't help but feel like I wish I'd have put the money aside and let it grow so I could have bought a "Newer Version" of the car I once loved. I paid 3,500.00 for that car back in 1979. I sold it for 10 times what I paid and it was in exactly the same condition maybe better as I took excellent care of it. I had a surplus 426 Hemi motor complete that I also sold for 6500.00 back in 1995 also. Today I see that they sell for well over 30,000.00 IF they can be found as in original condition no upgrades. I see there is one for sale in Utah which is where the buyer lived that purchased my car and engine. I think it's the same motor that I had as it looks like the same numbers on it. Selling for 30,000.00. My next purchase will be the newer Dodge Hellcat. It has everything and more than my 71 Hemi had but so much nicer overall. Price tag is 20 times higher as well. This time the Newer Hellcat will stay in my possession and pass down to my son when I'm gone. I've often thought about buying another 70s muscle car as they are the true "Muscle Cars" of my generation. Seems I just don't like wrenching like I use too. I have a son that is a diesel mechanic and also has an auto shop at his residence. I work on his hunting tools and do some taxidermy for him in exchange for all our Auto mechanical work. Pretty fair deal.

I think I saw mention of one on a "junkyard" car show. I know he said there was a 61 SS, but I don't think I ever saw one. Only indication was different emblems on the quarters, as I recall. Mine was a plain 283 stick on the column, but pristine. Dad's 54 Merc Monterey in the background. Sorry for the old pictures - they were very recently discovered and scanned.

And, '61 was not my favorite. I wanted a 62 but had little time to shop when I got back from overseas. The 61 I found was so cherry that I settled for it.
It had that front bumper guard and 4 in the rear. An old farmer had ordered it and it had 24,000 on it. Foolish me tore out the clutch in a couple of months. Put a truck clutch in and had no more problems, even after upgrading to Z-28 engine parts. That was foolish too, but fun for awhile.

This is my ‘67 Malibu. I have had it since 1991. I have reincarnated it several times, I just about have it where I want it.

the engine is a 540 based on a Dart Big M block. AFR 290 CNC heads, Hyd Roller cam, 234/244 at .050, .675 lift. 10 to 1 Compression, Mahle Pistons, SCAT 4340 crank, Calles Rods. Holley HP multi port fuel injection.

transmission is a TCI 6x 6 speed automatic, 3000 stall converter with overdrive lock up.

rear end is a 12 bolt built by Pyle Brothers with Eaton TruTrac, Moser Axels, Ford ends, 3.32 gears.

Brakes are 4 wheel Wilwood disc with a HydraTech HydraBoost.

cooling is a 32 inch Wide BeCool aluminum radiator with twin 13 inch Spal Fans.

Suspension is Hotchkis. Headers are Lemons 2 1/4 going into a TorqueTech 3.5 X pipe through Walker Super Dynomax Mufflers.

and more.

As you can see, I am on a quest to spend $300,000 to have a $30,000 car

Always liked the bubble top. Had a light weight round, crooked shifter. Not just Hearst style. My biology teacher in high school owned it. Seldom ran in winter.

^^ Now that is nice! Been trying to resist getting a nice 70-72 C-10. Sorry Ryan, it would have to be a Chevy for me. I appreciate the Fords, just have never been there.

I just seen this thread pop up.
Car I had in 1988-89 it was passed back and forth between my uncles since 1974 when my uncle bought it. My dad bought it in 1987 I think and I ended up with it. It was bought at the local car lot along with another W30 for the sole purpose of drag racing. When my uncle bought it the original engine had already been blown up along with the read end and was replaced with a W31 350. By the time I got it it was rust out pretty good on the bottom side.

Here it is in 1974 when my uncle had it.

One of the current cars. This was my grandfathers...1976 El Camino Classic he bought almost new I do believe...only car I ever remember him driving. He passed away and it sat in my grandmothers garage for about 12 years. I ended up buying it and cleaning it up. Stock original 305 3bbl.

Newest project I found sitting next to a barn. 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 383 4bbl car. This is how I found it.

Not much different that I found it except for clean up a little and put the engine back in it.

Of coarse it has a 12.5-1 440 with alum heads and a 850 carb,727 trans with a PTC 9.5" converter and 3.91 gears.

Mine isn't a hotrod in the traditional sense and doesn't look like a hotrod, but that's how I want it. Everyday driver hunting truck, with some beans under the hood. Race engine build. stealthy sleeper. Very much fun to drive. This is the 3rd generation triple turbo setup, which has since been changed. It's now on a 4th and permanent setup.
Addition: Oct. 2012 went 10.97 in 1/4, pretty much the same setup as now.
