Bedding a GRS Bifrost?

I just received my GRS Bifrost stock for a Savage long action. When I tested fit, it seems to me that the action may be allowed to move a bit forward or back due to the bore size of the action screw holes. Has anyone else installed one? Did you bed it? I was thinking of just bedding the lug to prevent forward movement.

I have a Berserk that looks exactly as you describe. They say you don't need to bed them but I have wondered about it as well. Logically it seems you would want to get rid of the excess area around the lug. But mine doesn't come loose and it shoots good so at this point I have left it alone.

Will be interested to hear other peoples responses.

There is a reason for the extra room around action screws. The stupid reason is so that every possible difference in the dimension between those action screws will be accommodated.

More important is that we do NOT want the actions screws to be under a bind by touching any part of the hole diameter so we make those holes larger in diameter.

Bedding accomplishes the best fit of the action to the stock or bedding block. We want that fit to perfect but stress-free. The same applies to the recoil lug. We want a stress-free fit yet we don't want the lug to under any tension. Recoil of the shot string seats the lug against the rear of the lug depression. Rigidity of movement in bedding will cause aberrations on the target. Over tensioning of the action screws can cause the same problems by distorting the shape of the action.

Pretty disappointed with the bifrost to be completely honest. Might be good for a range gun but hopeless for a hunting rifle off front rest. Simple squeeze pressure from a hand can get the stock foreend to touch the barrel so too much weight on rest or odd angle will touch and throw your shot. It’s advertised as not needing bedding hence the reason I bought it… Tried to talk to grs about it took about 6 months to even get a reply and all that was was “you should try bedding it or we can replace it if you like”. No point replacing it if the next one is gunna do the same thing!! And don’t advertise it as not needing bedding if it needs it! My gunsmith has bedded a few of them and he says it doesn’t work that well as the stock itself is too flimsy. I love the feel of the grs bifrost but you have to be very aware of how you position it in the field
