Massive gun prohibitions today in Canada

So far they are not on the list, but we've already been told there will be more bans coming likely. Kind of ironic, seeing as it is a rifle that was actually used in war, while the scary black guns - AR15 in particular, to my knowledge has never been used by any army.

Now there has been a leak from a supposed Liberal employee that is a gun owner, that their next steps my be centralized storage, as well as some type of magazine limits.

Not surprisingly I suppose, but there seems to be strong support from the non-gun-crowd. It is quite obvious when engaging these people online that they no nothing about Canadian laws. After quite a long back and forth with a 60 year old woman this morning she finally understood that Canada doesn't actually have fully automatic rifles, her quote to me was "it seems like I've been mislead by the newspaper article." Not surprisingly the article was from the CBC.

This is going to an uphill battle.

I feel for those of you in Canada. The progs in my home state of Oregon would desperately like to ban AR-15s. They keep losing, but they will not stop. We need to be more stubborn than they....

Same here in the Peoples Republic of WA. They will succeed in making me a criminal at some point. I will wear that badge with honor as I pack up and move back to America. Fortunately America it is only 15 miles east for me.

AR's were already restricted in Canada. Very strict transport and storage laws were already in place. Not to mention all PAL (Possession And Acquisition) holders names go through a criminal check database every 24 hours, and red flag laws were in effects for many years.

Restricted firearms could only be fired at a certified range.

With all your restrictions have you noticed the crime rate dropping?

We have approx 250 gun related deaths/year. The vast majority (70%) of those are gang violence with handguns, 80% or more of which are smuggled up from the US. 70% of these deaths are suicides.(2016)

The majority of this crime takes place in 2 cities - Toronto and Montreal (?).

Coincidentally, the number of gun related deaths seems to rise every time the Liberals take over, there was a steady decline resulting in a low of 150/year in 2014. Maybe because the Liberals got rid of minimum sentencing, and their judges continually release violent offenders on bail?

Example: A Psychotic stalker individual steals a car and runs over several pedestrians.
Solution: Ban private ownership of automobiles and revoke all driving priveleges except as expressly determined by lengthy government approval.
Military, law enforcement, political bodyguards exempt of course

Further review of the new legislation has found that it seems that some 10 and 12 gauge shotguns are meeting the prohibited regulations, specifically "any firearm with a bore dimension greater than 20mm..." (that's .787" for the rest of you)

I suspect this was a massive blunder by our 'experts' in government. Unbelievable.
