Mixing it up more is a move in the right direction.
As Keith mentioned a compromise situation needs to be reached.
x7 pit changes or anything that idiotic will chase away the fellows that most need to have a well run LR bench match available to them. (the large geriatric group). Those of us that are not physically compromised can and often do migrate to any of the High Power events under the NRA, which are very well run standardized matches. We had enough of the arguing and constant NBRSA stupidity some time ago. I do miss the LR bench matches I used to really enjoy them when they were better run and organized. Arguably not the fault of the decent and very good fellows that have stepped up to try and run the matches over the past years. Its not the Match Directors its the myriad of idiots that now seem to be in the press every month on another big issue of one sort or another. Good sportsmanship and generally good behavior ruled in the past. Not these days, at least at SVSC. Screwing fellow shooters out of a record seems to be very in style this year in that group. The joy of shooting for the sake of shooting is a lost concept.
Short bench has over shadowed Long bench from day 1, they just wanted the money.
Fix it or get out and do something more up scale, or the event will continue to decay to what it has become. Sad but true.

There is an e-mail discussion among NBRSA members right now on updating the format. I started this thread to see if the format was one reason why NBRSA LR BR matches are usually so poorly attended. It is.......

This year I moved a little east and north and have been shooting IBS at Deep Creek. I was concerned at first with all the relay and bench swaps, but I immediately saw it wasn't an issue. In fact, I MUCH prefer that format. No one complains about being stuck in second relay and thus not having a very good opportunity to be competitive.

I don't think the issues at SVSC are representative of other NBRSA ranges. I have shot Tucson, Portland, and Medford, and sportsmanship and fellowship are the norm.
