I'm going to be shooting a 6PPC later this year and believe it will be a new learning curve with different powders and primers and relish your thoughts (might as well you'll give them to me anyway!)![]()
Never had an issue with a drop-port. If I buy a new action, it will be a drop-port. You never have to chase brass!Where did you read that left ports are less accurate? I ask because every action maker that I am aware of offers RB(right bolt) LP (left port) actions. Many offer RBLPRE(right eject) to minimize clutter (I think) on the bench.
Bolt opens, round is inserted (from the left), bolt closes, gun goes Bang!, bolt opens, fired case goes out the right side, round goes in from the left port, bolt closes; sequence is repeated.
My question for those of you with drop port ejection: do you ever try to load, and have the loaded round fall out the bottom instead? SS actions allow the shooter to just feed the round in and close the bolt; the round is supported in place while the bolt is closed. What holds the round in its' proper position if the bottom is like a BDL with no follower, etc?
thanks for the education,
Rich
PS: buy a 10 1/2pound rifle. You can shoot all three classes at a match, and the additional trigger time is invaluable.![]()
I shot a DP for several years and never had it happen to me...It'd be hard. The actual port is far enough rearward that it just isn't an issue, but I do understand the concern. You just have to do it to see, maybe....It's fast and feels very natural, at least to me. I could just literally toss a round in and close the bolt, even better than with a dual port. The problem with a dual shooting like that is you can toss it out the other side! Some action makers change port location in part, because of this. It changes ejection angle which is a consideration in action choice but, ford vs chevy mostly. If you get use to any of them, they all seems to work(top action choices)Where did you read that left ports are less accurate? Bite me! I did, for one match, and you're the one that back peddled from it. I was honest, can't afford to wager $500 on every match of the year, especially when you are the maybe 2nd or 3rd(maybe 4th) greatest group shooter of all time.See there goes Mike Running his mouth again. I’ve been going to 15 to 20 plus matches a year for nearly 30 years and have never seen Mike at one. Mike does what he does best and that run his mouth from a keyboard.
Mike if you want me at UBR Matches just take the bet. 500.00 a match we can go to every one on the schedule! Otherwise I’d suggest you close you Pie-Hole.
Bart
Bat and Borden will make you a drop port, Kelblys will sell you one without and ejector/extractor and you can finish it into a drop port, I have done quite a few and they turn out very nice.I wish I still had a drop port. My Bat is good, but if I built another it would be a Panda.
I assume you're referring to my post. I didn't make any mention of accuracy differences. Simply passing along what was relayed to me at local matches when asking shooters about different configurations. According to them, there's less demand for RB/LP these days hence the lower prices. Can be less expensive getting in but harder to move later if wanting to sell and upgrade. If that's incorrect and rb/lp is the preferred set up I stand corrected.

Lots of people fall into my category, of not having your money. You saw my honesty in that regard and now you're trying to bully me because I can't afford your bet. That's bs hof'er! You called me out with your bet..not the other way around. In fact, I admitted that you'd probably win! Far cry from challenging you! Still...I took you up on it, on a one match basis and you went the high dollar route on me. Sorry, I can't do that for ya and I told ya so. So you knew my answer already but continued to run your mouth after the fact. Good on ya bud! You're a piece of work for sure. I know your type and I won't be bowing down to it.
This was all fun and games to me but you're pushing that too far. Either show up and shoot as gentleman or drop it. Last chance. I don't give two shits who you think you are. We both put our pants on one leg at a time. Sorry if it hurts your feelings to hear that, but it's past time you did!
