Mine has a 1.45 barrel and the 2 port Bat is 1.75 diameter with a PPC bolt face. I think it could handle a Grinch or a BRA with a different BF......

Absolutely! I’ve got a 6BRA set up on one now. No problem!
So you have been practicing before they allow rails, interesting just kidding
just kiddingI now own a 90lb Dasher with a break. I’m practicing with it but my best 10 shot time with not pushing it back is 11 seconds. It never leaves it’s point of impact. I really se no difference. They should be able to complete, but that would require rule changes. My gun is sitting on sand bags, rail guns ride on linear bearings.
I can not see how setting on linear bearings would give one an advantage shooting cartridges capable of be competitive at 1000yds. I would think there would be to much rearward movement and limited friction would force the shooter to push the gun foreword between shots. Any device limiting recoil in the gun other than a break would require another rule change, also rail guns sit on a one piece rest which again is another rule change.

I think it’s in a separate class altogether.
Evolving the sport is a good thing. Not trying to mess with the tried and true LG/HG classes.

Jay Young’s are probably the most popular. Not for sure who else who else is making them. Don Powell made some great rail guns back in the day.

Nice Bart and you have a Baer rest like mine. Mine is 006! All I would like is someone to sit side by side with a rig like yours or mine against a rail gun just to see if it makes that much difference. Like I've always said Barrels and Bullet. We don't need to start another class or anything. Consider it a test. Maybe that will get people off this rule change thing.

We will be allowing the rail-guns to participate this year at IBS matches we have scheduled (Western Colorado Rifle and Silhouette Club near Grand Junction, Colorado) on a test/trial basis. IBS will be following the results and participation from our range and others if more ranges choose to allow rails to shoot.
This will be a test/ trial only, not in any official class. I am sure we will need to gin up some guidelines, but heck, we are only a few days into this.... more to come.

Respectfully, I do see a big difference. I don't own, have never fired a rail gun, however the idea seems to be to take all of the "shooter" out of the equation.
Having said that, I do agree that they have a place in this ultimate accuracy game that we all play (or would like to play this year). IMHO they would need to be in their own class.

You would never get enough Rails in one place to have their own relays. Just to get them there for people to experience, let them come & shoot where ever they want. If Rails don't conform with the rules, let them shoot for free. Maybe collect a donation from the owners for the target cost. Just having them at the shoot & on the line are fun to experience for all attending. And if they don't out agg the others maybe they could just be thrown into the mix. Some of us old guys have a hard time after a while for whatever reason wrestling the rest. rear bag gun etc. to the line in LR BR.........Just a thought.........

You are correct, most will not expend the time or funds to chase this, however, I believe we could learn a bit from using these platforms. Maybe I am wrong, we will likely know by fall if we get to shoot this year.
