Pocket Pistol

With all this extra time that I have lately I have been looking at the "pocket pistols" in 380. I am leaning towards the Glock. But for the money what would you guys choose? Girlfriend whats a shooter and I figure that would be a good starter for her. Also a nice range of reloads mild to hot.

I carry a Ruger LCP with RIP ammo. I am a gun dealer and have tried most of them. It is small and simple. If you get one to big, you will not carry it like you should. I cut a piece of thin cardboard to fit my back pocket so it does not print. It is like reaching for your wallet.

I have a Taurus tcp and its actually an ankle gun or appendix depending upon attire. Not had trouble with it yet except chambering a hp round by hand is a little rough going in. Doesn't jam just rough feeling. Maybe a few more rounds and polishing feed ramp and hood will help.

The old Colt Pony is a classic. The Sig 320 ? New fangled remake of the colt. Pretty small for men, my wife has one. She also has a 3" Chiefs special SS S&W 38.. I really like the old S&W 5 shot revolver. mikeinct

I would go with the Glock. My wife has one, and I use it to train every woman who wants to learn to shoot. The Glock just flat has far less recoil than any other 380 that I know of. And it is very accurate to boot. It is not as small as some, but makes up for it in usefulness.
Thats how I was looking at it. Trying to keep her more comfortable with the recoil. I was just wondering what else was in the locks price point that might be a good choice. seems like al lot of you guys own a 380.

Rm380 Remington is a super reliable and super accurate for a pocket 380.

Depending on what I'm wearing I'll carry a FN FNS9C or the RM380. Some days at SP101 with Stag grips but only when I wear a cowboy hat.

This past week with the craziness ive been packing a full size 1911 with two extra mags and a 6.8SPC short AR in the truck

I've carried a Kel Tec P3AT , the one Ruger pretty much copied for the LCP, for many years and have no complaints.

Medic505's comment with regard to comfort to shoot is spot on; the true pocket pistols, like the P3AT, LCP, etc. have narrow, smallish grips that transfer lots of felt recoil to a small area of your hand. My first 380 was a CZ model 83, which is on the small size for a duty pistol as used by many European police departments, but much bigger in the (double stack, for openers) grip area. The first time I shot the P3AT, the increase in felt recoil really startled me. But that's not why you buy an LCP sized pistol; you buy is for its extreme concealability, and put up with the fact that it doesn't have the negligible recoil of a larger grip 380. It's not horrific recoil, just sharp and a bit of a surprise when you come from a "full size" 380 like the CZ 83.

Lots of good info here guys. My Glock 33 is always with me. But I think that would be to much for the misses so the 380 fits the bill to get her started. Thanks guys.

I have a Kel Tec P3AT also, and have a thin kydex pocket holster for it. Disappears even in khaki's.
As Outrider27 said, the recoil is sharp, but its manageable. Not the pistol you'll take to the range and run 100 rounds thru as fast as you can load mags and shoot.
Whatever you choose, shoot it to be confident and comfortable with it.
