Learned lesson / lesson forgot ?

I mounted a new Leopold onto my Tikka using the crap Tikka rings they give free with their guns. Big mistake ! I should have listened to my own advice and got talley lightweight rings. Just ordered them now. What i was seeing was stringing of groups so today i removed the scope and i could see why , the finish was worn off my scope from the crap rings not gripping correctly. Punch myself in the head over and over. Money wasted on bullet's and powder just trying to save a bit by using crap rings.

Seen this many times and have made the mistake myself, Tika rifles are great there rings suck.

Gotta go with @Rdlningcltchdmpr Much prefer Talley lightweights for my hunting rifles. However, I couldn't find them for my CZ 527 so I went with Warne. Very stout rings; I could see these being appropriate on a "working" rifle.

Would be awesome to see some before and after targets to see the difference.

I will show some pictures after.

I will post pictures of (after) remounting scope with talley rings. As for the( before) all i can do is describe it - 5 shot groups were strung left to right or up and down or kittycorner. All shots touching about 3/4" groups but stringing. This gun is chambered in 30RAR. - Krieger 17twist. It should shoot groups of .150"-.200" . i will show you soon.

Yea, had the same problem with a 243 which isn't known for it's recoil. I learned long time ago to inscribe "memory lines" with a pencil on the juncture between the rings and the scope. Any scope movement thus becomes immediately apparent. Like you, I replaced the Tikka rings with Talley rings. I think this is why they no longer offer rings with their rifles - they just don't hold with most calibers.

I was able to use the Tikka rings successfully on a Tikka T3, 223 Rem. After using them for several hundred rounds they appear adequate for that level of recoil but I wouldn't waste my time with those rings for anything heavier than a 223 Rem.

The bad part is the finish on the scope tube.

Until Burris signatures gut punch me I'm going to continue to use them, both regular and XTR. The xtr's are a little heavy but you can get up to 40 MOA offset in increments of 5 with inserts. Were all spending more money than ever on optics and I sure don;t want marks on mine.
