I have used moly in the past with good results. Stopped using it for no particular reason. Was thinking of coating Bullets again but think I might try hbn. The search results here are quite dated. I tried the search on the bulletin board but the related links for som blogs were not working, not even one from this year.
Here is the question. Can I use the wet method to coat Bullets with hbn just like moly?

It goes on dry. It is more of a powder than liquid. Call David Tubb or go to his website for more info. When I shot the 6XC I used Hbn DTACs with good results.

I use hbn on my Creedmoor ( I know y'all, I know:rolleyes:) rounds and coat them dry in the tumbler. I just put them in plastic bottles and tape the lids shut. tumble them with bb's for 2 hrs and wa la, coated bullets without all the moly issues, NONE!!!. PM me if you want more info, mine turn out pretty good, imho;)

I've got some that you can have. I bought it about 7-8 months ago and never got around to using it. PM me your address and I'll try and get it out tomorrow if you want it.

I guess you don't want it. You've been on the site twice and no response. No problem. I've got another member that will take it.

We in our household have been using Boron Nitride since 2001. We’ve had good results in coating the bullets and with the pre-treatment of our barrels. When we started the processes Momentive Products in Ohio was the go to supplier. We followed their advise on application and use, as they sell BN for industrial applications. We still tumble the bullets in BN in a tumbler with steel shot, not lead, not copper. For the tumbler application on bullets we use HCPL grade and tumble for 30 minutes. For the barrel pre-treat we again followed Momentive’s advice and we mix AC6111 grade BN with alcohol and run a wet patch down the bore. We chose these applications over the use of WS2, tungsten disulfide, because of the cleanliness of BN over ws2 and we haven’t regretted the switch for one minute. I’ve coated over 40,000 bullets with the BN for our use.
I gave some BN to one guy and told him the tumbler method of application and stressed the use of steel shot as the media. He cut a corner and used lead shot instead. He ended up with lovely BN coated lead shot but not the bullets.

I appreciate the offer but I already ordered some. Perhaps someone else can use it.

Word of advice. Load a couple dry bullets and then load a couple you've coated in HBN. Now pull them and see if there is any difference in force needed. What feels slippery in your fingers may not be inside the case neck. I had a bad experience with it and here is the post with plenty of pictures. Possibly a different brand or a finer powder may have been different. I wish you luck but check by pulling a couple before you go too far.
