Similar story: A friend of mine bought a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner with a 440 cubic inch, 3-2 barrel carb and 4 speed from a lady whose son had bought it in 1969. He was drafted shortly afterwards and sent to Vietnam where he was killed in action. She kept the car in her garage and would not sell it. About 20 years latter a friend of mine found out about it and because of her age she decided to sell it to him.

Well Dan I applaud your capabilities, I am a couple of years younger than you and up until a few years ago did about the same as you but life caught up to me. The ten screw in my back along with the rods and support plate ( 8 surgeries) the torn tendons and repairs on both elbows and the need for two knee replacements has kind of slowed me down. I still do all my own yard work and home repairs but now I buy split wood and beef at the market.

Is three-on-the-tree what y’all are calling a three speed shifter on the steering column? I had that in a butt-ugly beat up F100, and I used to occasionally have to pull off the road while on a date and get under the truck to get the linkage lined back up so I could shift the gears again. It was a piece of crap, but it was all mine.
