Teslong bore scope

I just got mine yesterday, plugged it in to my Microsoft Surface Go Windows 10 tablet, used the camera app and it works.

First thing, I checked out my new 284 Winchester barrel. From what I can see the throat and neck look fine. The shoulder looks a bit rough with concentric rings. The body of the chamber has a crosshatch finish but has faint concentric rings, much lighter than the shoulder rings.

I know that rings in the chamber can cause stuck brass. Are there any photographs that contrast bad vs ok chamber finish?

Back to the camera, adjusting the camera light output, I think the low setting is as bright as I need, then it goes dark. It would be nice if there was more adjustment between low and off but low works. I tried to adjust focus but the mirror didn't want to move on the threads. That's not a big deal because the focus is ok for my needs but slightly concerning and I didn't want to force it.

I think I will mostly use it with my Surface Go (USB-C) but I have an Android tablet that I will try to use in dirty environments where I don't want to take my Surface Go. That will use the micro-USB connector. I might put the app on my Android phone but I think I would rather have a big screen most of the time.

I tried to adjust focus but the mirror didn't want to move on the threads. That's not a big deal because the focus is ok for my needs but slightly concerning and I didn't want to force it.

Not trying to be insulting, but did you notice that there is a "keeper" nut that has to be loosened before adjusting the mirror? Just a thought.

I did see that but it doesn't have a spanner wrench slot so I didn't know if it was one of two pieces. I still didn't want to twist it hard. I will probably leave it alone until I need to use it without a mirror or in a bore that doesn't focus.

I've used mine on a couple different rifles, but having a bit of trouble getting mine in focus as clearly as what you guys are posting. How long did it take to get your's in focus?? Tips???

I looked at my mirror again and tried one last time to loosen it. With just a little more pressure it broke loose and spun freely. I can change focus now but I didn't really need to. I don't think I'll ever get the jam nut that tight again. I just don't know how I could do it.

One thing I noticed when my scope wasn't in the bore is that it took fairly focused pictures even an inch or more away from the mirror. My depth of field is pretty wide. It looks like it focuses over a distance much greater than the adjustment available in the threads.

Maybe that is not the case with all of the camera assemblies. I know a camera firmware engineer and it sounds like this type of camera would typically be assembled and tested in a factory before it is shipped to the factory that builds it in to a borescope. If the testing isn't very good, the lens might be too far from the sensor which could change the focus to be outside of the thread adjustment range.

One thing I was thinking about is that I might remove the jam nut and squeeze the threaded end of the mirror housing to ovalize it slightly and make some drag on the threads so it doesn't need a jam nut to prevent unscrewing.

If you run out of inward thread for focusing, removing the jam nut might let you get where you need to be.

You may also need to adjust the LED brightness wheel to help get a better focus.

I've played with the brightness as well, but I can't seem to get mine to focus as clearly as what's been illustrated/posted here by other members. I tried ~90* or quarter turns of the mirror to get the lens in focus, but never got to the sharpness seen in some pictures posted. More practice like other things. LOL

Has anyone found a way to use this tool for 20 caliber rifles? I own 7 20's but the mirror end is too large in diameter to go into the bore. It works find on my 22 calibers with either my Windows 10 desktop or S9+.

Try a negative space adapter , available nowhere. Just kidding of course !

I found this in a review on a gun video channel. I don't know how it would compare as I haven't tried it. But, it is the same price and there are multiple options including bigger lenses for bigger bores. Says they are veteran owned and the area code in the phone no. is NY.

There is a wheel on the side of the square box on the lead (item 7 shown on page 2 of the manual) that adjusts the lights.

I know - it's still a little too bright, even turned all the way down.

I fired my remaining bullet inventory from this rifle over the last couple days. Total shots fired was 3120. Hard to see any difference between the 2720 shot pictures. It stayed quite accurate right to the end. The .260 barrel was pulled this afternoon and replaced with a fresh M700 SS 7-08 takeoff barrel. This inexpensive bore scope is a nice tool to add to your collection. Get one. Shown is throat, midway and the bullet exit point.

The solid rod might be good like my 17" Hawkeye was. This 38" long flexible Teslong one along with three feet of USB cable is a real PIA on a desk top situation. I got rifles laying on the printer, cables across the keyboard and flopping all over the place near the mouse! But it sure works nice. Does anyone know what the magnification value is?

Here is an M700 7-08 SS 7-08 take off I installed 2 months ago with 434 shots on it. Looks like reamer chips scratched the neck. A $40.00 barrel, who cares. This barrel shoots really good.
