People still shoot a .308? I thought they were viewed as sub par. I may have to get mine out again and load some up for it.
I love my .308. 175 grain match kings really lets it shine.

Or is it Whipper Sniper?
I like it!This is a Remington Model 700 BDL short action in 7mm-08. It has the original 22" barrel with a real walnut stock. The scope is an M8-12X Leupold I bought new in 1980. "I have never seen one of those before" he says.
LMAO....I hope he had a Federal Duck Stamp to go with those fat doves.
Bet it up.Add a Zoot Suit (with a rheet pleat), a derby, cape, and a walking stick, and I'm good to go!

2 CENT On a 7-08 Got my Master Card in long Range at Lodi Wisconsin shooting a Bolt Gun in 7-08 .
Great ( 1990 ) ?
Never understood the 308 love. Why anyone would mess with it over the far and away superior 30-06 or 300 Savage, other than that they like having what the military has. Looking at it in that light, the 308 is the original tacti-cool choice!Hey, I'm a 308 kind of guy.
Last week a youngun was shooting a bar 3006 next to me , he shot 40 round's and never hit the paper. His barrel must have been super hot at that point. I told him to shoot while i looked for the dust. His shot was 28" high at 100 yds. He had crap base's and crap rings so i told him to get talley light weight rings and then his problem will be solved.
I don't think that changing rings and bases will exactly solve the problem. If you're 28 inches high at 100 yards at some point you will need to crank about a minus 28 moa if you have that in your scope. This would have been a good opportunity to educate a youngster about sighting in with 3-4 shots, scope adjustments, base and ring cants, etc.Last week a youngun was shooting a bar 3006 next to me , he shot 40 round's and never hit the paper. I always find it more satisfying to use my limited knowledge to help someone succeed than watch them fail.

I think you missed my point. If a kid fires 40 consecutive shoots 28 inches high on the targets at 100 yards, they need more help than just "get a new set of rings."It sounds like the op assisted with what he thought was the best answer.
painter or carpenter? both?!My platform is usually a 6 foot fiberglass ladder, some times an 8 footer. I like a couple of saw horses and a few scaffold boards best though.
Is that really balanced there? My Ed Brown "Marine Sniper" rifle - .308.
Apologies, Marines. Just have the rifle w/o the duty.
Shilen bbl & trigger. 10X US Optics scope. Have gone to 1000 yds.
Heavier bullets are better. It's a great rifle. I think 22lr, .243, .308 are all needed. oh, .45 ACP.

That's OK, F Open shooters don't understand us either. You have to be a little bit of a masochist to compete with a .308. By in large, F-TR shooters are the best guys and gals on earth. That said, those Open shooters are pretty good cats too.Never understood the 308 love.
Sometimes I shoot f open with an ftr bipod just to remind me how archaic it is. Cavemen. That's OK, F Open shooters don't understand us either.
