The Forum Boss works hard and deserves to be paid fairly for the time he puts in. The is a fact no one want to do a job for a nickel when another guy is doing the same job making a quarter. He puts in a lot of damn time and should be well compensated. And no I don't know him, nor have we sent any messages to each other.

I think he should require folks donate to the site to sell items here. It ain't about security either. It is about him being paid fairly and face it other than a few dip shits bickering his main source of headaches is folks selling stuff.

And please don't try to goad me into defending my position because. Well I don't really give a shit.

This is actually a good idea for a service to offer. I'm surprised someone hasn't capitalized on this yet.

Ive offered it over and over. I guess folks are a little more confident in their purchases. It definitely works well 99.99% of the time

I was on another sales forum a few days back, I was looking at a Vortex Razor HD. Price was about normal for it being used, but something seemed odd when I messaged him. His spelling was fine but he was pushing the sell hard. I did a google image search and guess what, I found all the pics he posted on another forum 2 years before. He was a established seller with his 100 posts, like someone mentioned earlier on here scammers will pay $25 to score $2000. Do some research, everyone starts off as a new buyer or seller. No one gets on with a established history. We have to take chances on new buyers at some point but please do your homework and search google. It ain’t that hard, I see why scammers are everywhere people are so damn gullible. I’m not a paid member here, I’ve posted a item before on here but sold it on a state hunting forum I’m a part of. I’m more established on that site, there are rules on the classifieds as well.

As Dusty says,an escrow. Buyer sends money ,seller sends product to Dusty.Dusty holds on to both until both parties have had a chance to work out form of payment for given product. The buyer and seller both pay $$$$$$$ to Dusty for his time.Then ,there is the thing of an extra shipping charge ,but it is still cheaper than driving 500 miles to deliver.
I know it would be a hassle to do this but what is piece of mind worth.You can bet I would use this service.Thanks Dusty.

This is good, this way Dusty does not have to mess with receiving or shipping.

The escrow service offered by Dusty seems to be a good solution, I don't like the probable change to the sell/purchase area so this would be a good solution. But I don't think Dusty should do this for free, as many transaction as this site offers he could get very busy very fast and I would hate to see him get burn't out or overwhelmed.

A minimum post count would help but it doesn't take long for someone to get to 100 posts. I don't know how the software works but it seems like it could be more for the Boss to do, which is counter productive. Limiting the classifieds to paying members helps in a few ways. It limits scammers and provides potentially more income for the forum and gives the Boss potentially less headaches. You can usually tell when someone is trying to get to the quota, because they have 50 one or two word posts. If I am dealing with someone relatively new, I always go back and look at there posts to get a feel for who they are. I think it helps.

Dusty's idea is good also, but I can see some headaches in that, for Dusty that is. Seems like it would be easy for him to get caught in the middle of disputes. I don't know but it seems like it.

The scary part will be when the scammers start to pay the $25 fee and still come out on top of a $2000 scope scam because they look like legitimate members. I just completely avoid new members for sale ads no matter how good of a deal it is.

Is it possible to restrict grocery store generic visa gift cards from being used to purchase an account membership?

At least make them use a card with a know name and billing address?

Forum Boss: Credit Card payments for memberships are handled securely via PayPal. We "see nothing, know nothing". Paypal does not share credit card info with us for upgraded memberships.

Wow at lot of good suggestions to solve a problem that was caused by someone (seemingly) not paying attention to what he was doing or(seemingly)not wanting to be responsible for his own actions. Though I admit I never read that in the thread. I don’t believe accurate shooter has a responsibility to protect us from ourselves beyond the steps already given. Sounds too much like the government to me but that just my opinion and you know what that’s worth.
