Why are there not more 2 man team matches in F-Class?

I have been wondering lately, why not? Seems like it would be great fun to partner up with a compatible shooting buddy and have a great time competing against other paired up shooters in the same class. FTR or OPEN. 4 plus member teams have lots of drama in my experience. I really think this would be fun on a larger scale. Skip Barkley's 4 state match looks like a lot of fun. Any reason why it's not more popular?

It is not a recognized NRA High Power course of fire. However it is much easier to get together 2-man teams and quite a lot of fun. It would be fairly simple for a particular club to have a day (or a weekend) dedicated to a team match for fun. I am looking forward to the Panola team match again this year.

They are fun. Our club does 2-3 a year. It seems a lot of guys who want to seriously concentrate don't come when the opposite is true, it makes you concentrate and pay more attention to everything! The problem is if your paired up with a fun loving buddy. Then it gets worse, lol.

It’s still a fairly new way, but already 2 of our state clubs have taken to it! Big Piney and St.Louis Sierra cup.

They are the funniest matches you can shoot and most of the time are nail biters. It really helps to have 2 people debating the shot then making the shot then looking back at your teammate and saying great call or you really screwed that one up..:D

I think two man teams would be nice

How do you guys do it ?

Do you alternate fire from the same position?

How many rounds ?

Is it 15 or 20 ?

Only done it once...at the 4 State match at Panola. We shot 20rd matches + sighters (600yd). Each competitor completed all of his record rounds before switching shooters then going to pits as a team to pull. Two day match with 3x20 and 2x20.

We do our own format. Alternate fire, 10 rounds each at 300, 500, 600, 800. 27 minutes per round. It’s fun going from close in out to 800 in 4 rounds.

I like your format.

Alternative fire 20 rounds. Basically 10 Rounds each.

Alternate sighters..

28 minutes per Round.

Yes, 10 rounds each shooter alternating 1 shot at a time. Each shooter scores the other when he shoots. And I think we have a 1 minute max between shots rule too but we’re pretty loose with that.

Oh and I almost forgot we do 2 convertible sighters. Like your first two sighters and you can keep them and shoot 8 more. Like you second sighter, keep it and shoot 9 more. But if you like your first sighter but not your second you have to keep both or shoot 10 more for record. No more than 12 shots including sighters. Hope it makes sense.

Do you mix F Classes?

F TR / F Open vs FTR/ F Open

Not usually it depends on how many TR shooters we have. If there’s only one or two they get put in open. The sling shooters shoot it too. But they have their own classes. We do have an overall match winner which is high score of the day, any division.

Several two man team matches are shot during the Midwest Palma at Winnequah (Lodi). They are fun.

I am struggling to name a popular team only or team dominated match.
