6BRA versus 6 Dasher @ 600 yards

Thanks Alex & Bart. I can certainly agree on bad lots of any powder (and also the fact that some barrels just may not like a certain powder). I ran into this with varget on my first BRX barrel. Never could get 2 different lots of varget to shoot in it. Went to RL15 and it went to shooting. Foolishly I swore off varget for a few years (until I became tired of chasing temps with RL15). The first BRA that I chambered, he chased H4895 for awhile and it kinda left a bad taste in his mouth (and mine also, to some extent). All the others that I have chambered have done well to my knowledge. Since then, I have had four of my personal barrels set up to chamber in BRA, but always backed out and went the BR, BRX & Dasher route. With the ratio of “good vs bad” lots of H4895 that you have had close hand experience with, it gives me a better feeling on going forward. Thanks guys!

Jeff, are the groundhog shooters to which you refer akin to the "barber shop" shooters of our area? They will look at a target shot in competition and state my .243, 7 Mag, .30-06, etc. can do much better than that. However, when they are invited to show that accuracy in a match.....they disappear. Good shooting.....James PS- the targets shown below were shot at the NBRSA Nationals in KC, KS in 2010. These are the 200 yard sporter targets. Even these targets do not impress the barber shop crowd.

So I am just curious if you won a HOF point for that .1727 agg @200 with a sporter? I think most shooter including Bart would take that on a daily basis!!! That's a great agg!!!

.1727 agg is very impressive. But what’s more impressive is not just the agg, but that it was the best aggregate shot for that yardage against the best shooters in the country.

I only own a Sporter, so that was shot with a 10.5 # 6mm PPC. I am not that great a shooter and on that day, I must give a lot of credit to Jack Neary. I loaded next to Jack and he unselfishly advised me on changing my loads as the conditions changed. Modifying my load during a match is a very weak spot for me and without Jack's advice, I would probably have adjusted my load "bassackwards". The following year at Midland, I finished second in Sporter 200 (to JTIII) with the same rifle and same barrel. That seemed to be a magical barrel and one hates to see it die. Good shooting....James

3 years ago when I started chambering the 6BRAckley and started to push it and tell guys it would out agg the dasher I got nothing but crap on this site for it. All I can say is that I am not surprised in the least about the records falling like they have. Next year should be even better ;)

OH You aren’t the only one brother! I’m the guy that was crazy enough to say the Dasher was overbore and flipped shots! Several had meltdowns over that! I’ll take a 6BR or 6BRA over a Dasher any day.

Nothing to do with being the only one at all. I have always made sure to give credit to the guys doing it before me. I have said a bunch of times I have nothing to do with the cases creation. But the internet would be a much more valuable resource if people would have a little first hand experience with something before they form opinions! LOL

Yeah - that Norma Dasher really got me last match - flipped two shots right out of the x ring.. Crap only got 50 3X out of it....

Not uncommon for people to get "crap" for saying anything new. Sadly... Sometimes it is like watching members of a cult when you challenge their doctrine. People can become very invested in their "stuff", and I find it funny that the Dasher replaced something... but the Dasher will never be replaced? It is just silly.

I am glad you were right Alex, couldn't happen to a cooler guy.
