Bag alignment !

If the reticle comes back lower, that means its riding higher in the rear bag after recoil. I would suggest pounding the rear of the stock into the bag to settle the sand. You can also pick the bag up and drop it straight down to accomplish a similar thing but I like to pound it into the bag a few times to let the sand settle. I didnt used to, but that was before I got my tracking figured out. Other opinions may vary but it's easy enough to try.

Also, depending on how it fits between the ears, you may find you need to remove just a little tiny bit of sand from them. But that would take a closer inspection. And I mean a tiny bit. Start with less than a teaspoon.

I’ve always felt that if I have to pound the butt into rear bag I’ve either got to much filler in the ears or wrong size spacing between the ears...I like my stock to ride on the bottom of ears on the flat and virtually get down there under its own weight or just a light push.. JME

I stole this method (from Billy Stevens I think). Place your rear bag first and aim it at the target using the "v" between the ears. Then place your front rest as close as possible and put your rifle in both and move the front rest without disturbing the rear bag. Only minor tweaking is then required. Good shooting...James

I'm with Joe.....You have to have the whole bag on the bench or it can not be stable.....

Move that front rest back and to the right so you can put the bag on the bench like they said and get comfortable. Thats too close to the front of the bench for me

Everything seems a little far apart to me...rest too far forward on the forarm, rear bag way back. but I do not compete, so my opinion should not hold much weight.

How did u make out with your bag set up . Last time I went to range I noticed my crosshairs going lower also when pulling stock back . Instead of taking a few minutes to try packing or looking into it (moron) I just started shooting . Anyway , pushing back to front stop crosshairs are pretty close to dead nuts , just pulling back goes low . It shot pretty good . Just wondering if accuracy would increase if crosshairs stayed on target during recoil . I’ll try again this weekend . Let me know please if u figured this out .

Anyway , pushing back to front stop crosshairs are pretty close to dead nuts , just pulling back goes low . It shot pretty good . Not yet, that is my next range session for sure! The 2nd bag I am trying has less sand and smaller ears and is the offset Edgewood bag (ears are offset) so going to give that a try too.

Now that I think about it , the bottom of my stock gets bigger back to front . It’s 1” at the back and I think 1.25” at the front . My bag spacing is 1” . So I’m wondering if the stock is riding up the rear bag during recoil ? Sounds right , but not sure what the fix is . Don’t really want to reshape bottom of stock .

Mine is the 5/8" all the way back (tracker) so not an issue in my case but I can see where it would be in yours.

They make an adjustable rudder . Maybe I’ll take a stab at making a 1” wide rail to attach to bottom of stock . Might raise my stock 1/2” in the rear . I don’t think that will matter . We will see !
