2019 Palma Alliance

I wasn't looking Erud. Just heard a rumor. Rumors aren't always true, but they might be pre-truths.

Didn’t F-TR originate as an F-Class equivalent to the Target Rifle class shot internationally with match sights & sling?
But with optics, a front rest and limited to 308WIN w/ <156 grain bullets?

F-O(pen) meant “anything goes”, F-TR was meant to be more ‘entry level’, evenly matched among competitors, hence the restriction?

Admittedly I wasn’t following it too closely when F-Classers started to appear here years ago, back when there were fewer of ‘em on the line, didn’t have their own matches.

I think a 155 on the small f-class target would be tough. Assuming it is a little breezy!

My opinion is that we welcome the FTR-155 crowd.

I don't think that anyone in the FTR-crowd would willingly give up their 185, 190, 200, or 215 grain bullets to use, what they perceive, as the lowly 155. That's like asking the any-any guys and gals to go to irons and a .308!

I do what that sticker.

Probably will get some takers, but not too many. Anything to get the disciplines interacting in a friendly way I can support. That said my first 1000 yd match was with the 155s at Bismarck. While I'm 75% Irish, luckily I had the other 25% German to make me too stubborn to quit right there.

Hey I am taking the leap to sling shooting. Shooting my first match with my Palma Rifle this weekend.

That is awesome, I hope you enjoy it. Usually all of the crossover goes the other direction (sling shooters switching to F), so it's nice to see F-class shooters give it a try. Good luck at the match!

New Palma Alliance coaching chair. Might be putting this gem up for sale after the Midwest Palma20190604_183613-756x1008.jpg 20190604_183627-756x1008.jpg

Wow, good to know. Not sure we would have many shoot that way here in the US.

I have learned to appreciate how much harder it is to shoot the 155 palma bullet in a brisk wind. Frustrating at times too.

I'm not an F-Class shooter so it's not really any of my business, but it sure seems like there would be a lot of upside to having a truly "limited" class for both sling and F-Class. DOn't need to worry too much about loads, just pick Berger's or Sierra's, put your rifle together, then get to work on technique and wind reading.
