Do it yourself Stock making thread

How would you go about wrapping around the corners to make it seamless looking?

That's the trick. 284 twill carbon is excellent at conforming to compound curves, it would be a matter of trying to hide the seam along the bottom of the stock, or there is also twill "tube" woven cloth, although with the varying sizes of a stock, your weave pattern will be at different angles if using a tube. Sometimes adding a black pigment to the epoxy will help hide seams, but if you're going for a clear coat to show off the carbon fiber, it may dull the effect.

"That’s a very handsome stock!"

The accumulative amount of talent from marksmanship through all phases of gunsmithing that is present on the Accurate Shooter forums site is amazing and honestly humbling.

I learn something every time I access the site.

Thanks to all who contribute, mentor and share their love for and knowledge of all aspects of the shooting sports.

I see myself leaning toward the traditional hunting stock. I do like a wider forearm for setting the gun on something. My hunting is sitting on the military crest of a hill overlooking a huge clear cut. Usually with a camera and dog. I see a couple of M40 stocks in the future but plain walnut, that's a stretch.

I'm with you on style of stocks, and hunting.
I'm thinking about a really nice piece of maple and putting my 700 cdl stock on brothers cnc machine.

I've sanded that off of 2 stocks in the last week. Actually doing one as we speek.
Your work is truly amazing, I wish I had your woodworking abilities.

As is your finish work. I have a nice HVLP sprayer but it's so dusty around here I'm not going to attempt it. I bought it to spray shellac than realized one spark and the place is a bomb. Screw that. Tru- Oil is more relaxing.

I recently found a blank at an estate sale for $20 that had been roughed out. The blank was too small in my opinion for a centerfire stock. So I took the blank and tried making a stock for my 10/22 that has been neglected for some time. I put a new 18" barrel, new pic rail, and I am going to replace the trigger & housing and clean up the stock more.

I'm going to use this for some more checkering and carving practice. There is plenty more to do with this stock.

Also the grain was fairly plain so I added some cherry to spice it up a good bit. My girlfriend really liked it so it's now her little precision rimfire.
