Okay, looking at the Nightforce 12-42x56 BR scope and the 15-55x52. Who has had experience with both? I'm shooting UBR and with these old eyes I need all the advantage I can get! I have the Vortex Golden Eagle, any difference? What do I do? HELP!!

What distance are you shooting and what’s your budget?

6 of us shoot on the same bench, 1K steel varmints . it is called VBRS up at Ridgway Rifle club Pa. We use 8x32 NF BR, 12 x 42NF BR, 5 x 15 NF Comp. 2 of the Big Money March scopes. The sometime x 60 [older] March is Marianne's Fav. JH shoots the 5 x 15 NF comp. He is our top shooter, she is second place. No problems , Pick the scope you like the best. We have been using NF for more than 15 years. mike in ct

Get the March 10-60. Don't need the HM.......But they are nice. I use the straight 50 and the 36-55 EPZ on a few 6ppc's and I got a great deal on the 8-80 from a friend that I have on a 17lb LV gun for out to 1000 and everything else in between 200 and there. I have a friend that uses the Vortex GE and really likes it and he shoots behind my guns as well. I am 61 and have a lenze replacement in one eye and a cataract in the other.

Regards
Rick

If you already own the Vortex GE, you night want to take a look through any one of the others scopes you're considering before actually buying. IMO - the NF probably has the best glass of the scopes you mentioned, but none of them are going to be a quantum leap over the Vortex GE. You're talking about a relatively small improvement or difference, at best. Make sure that your eyes can actually detect an "improvement" before dropping a lot of cash on a new scope.

I have had the Nightforce 12-42BR>>>>excellent scope. I HAD 2 Nightforce 15-55 Competitons>>BOTH broke! I have had and still have March High Masters>>>excellent scopes! However, I now have the Kahles 10-50>>>noticeably better than ANY of the others!

I have GE's, BR's and Comps. Use all three for 600 and 1,000 yard BR. Best optics of the three is the Comp. Best and simplest mechanical is the BR. Overall the GE is acceptable but a bit touchy on eye box.

I would just keep what you have. To spend lots of money on another is not going to give you a quantum leap unless you have multiple rifles and need more scopes. If I could only have one it would be the Nightforce BR. The least flashy with the least status, it's clarity, ruggedness and and power takes no "back seat" to anything. 42 power is fine, especially with the DDR reticle. It is a proven winner.

noticeably better than ANY of the others!

In your opinion what does this mean?
