F-Class Scope Advice Needed

AlanPF

Victoria Australia
Has anyone had F-Class experience with both of these scope models, and if so, which is preferred?

NF Competition 15-55x52 (2014 Edition)
March Long Range BR 10-60x52

Any advice appreciated.

March Long Range BR 10-60x52

Both will be great scopes, neither will give you any excuses for where the bullets hit, or don't. For me personally, I'd by the NF simply for the no BS lifetime warranty. (the 2014 NF is on my list of things to get this winter)

Wade made a good point about the NF warranty, its A+.......I sent a NXS in for repair and in a couple weeks it was back home with me in brand new condition.......I personally think the glass is better in the NF Comp scope than the March after looking through both but opinions vary.

I shot a March 10x60 the last couple of years. Been shooting a 2014 Comp this year, and so far I really like it.

My vote would be the March. The mechanical precision is absolutely the best and the glass is outstanding. I've owned 4 different March scopes (including the 10-60x52) and they've all been excellent. I even send questions directly to Deon and they are incredibly helpful.

Owned both and both are great scopes. I no longer own the gen 1 NF, but would not hesitate to get the gen 2....they fixed all my complaints.

Thanks all for the info.

I have heard criticism of the 2013 NF in relation to eye relief. Apparently there is a narrow "window" from about 80 to 90mm and if you go outside it, the image goes black. Has this improved with the 2014 version? And is the March any better, because its eye relief specs say 88-99 at 10X and 95-101mm at 60X, the latter being only 6mm long! I like to keep the head well back from the scope, and and that can be done with the Leupolds, and Sightron I've used up till now. It does reduce the field of view but has numerous advantages.

I've used both scopes. I have a 10-60 March mtr2 and 2 NF 15-55 fcr1. I would only buy another March if I could get a smoking deal on one! The NF seems a tad brighter at full magnification and I do not have a problem with eye relief on either scope shooting a 284 and a 280AI. With that high of a magnification I am willing to sacrifice some eye relief.
If you have and are willing to spend over $2500 for a base model March do it. If you want to buy from and support a US company buy a NF. If you look around you can find a NF competition for under $2100 and it comes with nice turrets, zero stop, lifetime warranty and you won't have to worry about sending it overseas for any repairs.

As an end user I consider both scopes very similar and I have no scientific way to prove one is better than the other. I think it comes down to how much $$$$ you want to spend!

Thanks Lawrence. That is helpful. I'm actually Australian, and there is a historical connection to NF - not sure exactly what. Based on what you say I'm leaning towards the NF but will try to find one at an event and ask for a look through it. I've learnt that scope specs are a highly individual thing, or at least that my preferences differ from many others!

this blog is worth reviewing, http://precisionrifleblog.com/2014/08/13/tactical-scopes-mechanical-performance-part-1/, Alot of the top-end scope being subjectively reviewed

I have both NXS 12x42 and a March 10x60.....can't say one is better than the other.... My only complaint with the March is that the side parallax knob is tight to turn and small which prob doesn't help the matter compared to the NXS.... I would buy either again though.

As I said above I've been shooting a 2014 NF Comp fcr1 this year but, today I shot a 600yd match with the March 10-60 mtr2 and man, I wanted my NF. I can already see the March going down the road kicking rocks.

I'll keep shooting my March for now. Like Keith pointed out, the focus on the March is a little stiff, but at least it will stay in focus for me once I get it there. The eye relief is less critical as well, plus I like doing business with Ian and Jim Kelbly, some if the finest people in the shooting industry.
