6mm ar turbo

nastynatesfish

A day which we will live in infamy
I’ve been doing some
Google Search and can’t find any Info on where to get a barrel for my ar? Anyone have a line on a 24” barrel?

Any idea on prices or lead time? That’s the only spot I seen that has stuff. But I don’t know if it’s compete upper or barrel only? Has anyone bought from them recently?

I have a reamer for one that I built on a bolt rifle.

The reason you wont find them anywhere else is because that guy put a patent on the reamer design. Pretty stupid and selfish if you ask me. He's the only person in the shooting world I've ever heard of doing that on a chamber design.

If you want to order your own reamer, talk to PT&G and ask for the 243 LBC Turbo 40 (LBC=Les Baer Custom). Its the 6mm AR Turbo 40 with a few of the specs changed by a couple thou of an inch to avoid patent infringement. Basically the same exact thing. I use a Redding 6mm AR Turbo 40 FL sizing die that I ordered from the guy with the patent. He also has a patent on the FL sizing die reamer. When I called, I just acted like I bought one of his barrels a long time ago so he didn't ask questions. The 6mm AR Turbo 40 die works great with the 243 LBC Turbo 40 chamber.

Will the 40* shoulder with very little body taper work thru an AR ? If so look into the “Grinch”. That should be the same as your talking about and uses the 6PPC/6.5 Grendel as a parent cartridge.

I have one of the 6mm Turbo 40 Improved, AR uppers, I have been shooting it for 4 years and it has been an awesome accurate gun without 1 miss feed in over 1600 rnds.

I am planning to build my first Custom Ar15 in 6mm AR Turbo 40.
PTG had the Reamers in their list, ordered them.
The guy from 6mmAR doesn't repeat any Emails, that's not funny!
Any idea of a alternative where I could buy a FL Bushing Dies set?

Planned to build a 26-28" Bull Barrel with a Rifle +2" Gas System, depending on total weight I will be at when all parts are together. I can go up to 18.18 pounds with bipod and scope for the european Long Range Events.

Now that we have the REACH Ban in Europe, we are limited to Reload Swiss RS50 (shoud be near RL50), VV 140, VVN540, Lovex D073.6 (should be equal to AA 2520), IMR 4166 Enduron and maybe Ramshot BigGame (but the Ramshot ball powders are temp. sens.!).

How much faster would a 28" barrel be probably with those powders? Or is it better to stay on a 26"?

So now that the good Hodgdon powders are gone here in Europe we have to find alternatives. :(

EDIT: A alternative to the 6mmAR Turbo 40 DIES?
How much did they change on the Fat Rat?

I have two 6mm Fat Rats. My wife has a 6mmAR Turbo 40. With just the eyes you can't see a difference. With calipers the headspace on a sized case is about .007 more on one than the other. I don't remember which one is longer.

Do you use one dies set for "both calibers"?
So I could also order the Fat Rat dies at Whidden?

I do not. I have a set of each.
Having said that, my wife doesn't shoot her Turbo much.
I could ask if she would sell the dies.
They are not bushing dies.

I'll ask after work if you want.

I looked at getting a 6mmAR for hunting until I saw the price of the dies and brass. It still looks very interesting but not in my budget right now. I have only heard positive things about Mr. Whitley's cartridges.

Robert Whitley aswered the Email. He was away a several time.
I can get the dies with bushings directly from him.
Everything is fine ;-)

Thanks anyway man.
