Rifle market pretty flat

I think the "off the shelf rifles" are a big part of it. You can get a pretty decent Taci cool rifle pretty
cheap. (cream more!) I've noticed quite a few rifles and actions on this site that seem like screamin
deals. I tried to sell a full custom Dasher with two barrels, Brass, Dies for what I thought was a deal.
(Typers Hide, Too tacti cool for this site). Only offers I got was for the brass. I've told a few people
who have expressed interest getting into shooting, look at the deals on the sites, and others.

Or simply that the main manufacturers here and (perhaps more so) in Europe have really lifted their game. Ignoring Tacky-Cool for a moment; never even have to ask if your Blaser, Sako, Tikka or Merkel RX shoots sub-MOA. Closer to half with decent factory ammo. And of course over here particularly, many many people want to pretend they're SWAT or a SEAL sniper. And so we have tacky-cool products delivering pretty good precision with military/video-game looks.

Could be, the creeping socialism in many states is causing store sales and the legal registration to flatten out.
I do NOT believe the BATFE ever destroys any purchase information.
IMHO, the next time a democrat is elected President and a majority of both houses occurs, we will begin full registration, and limitations of the number and type of firearms one my legally own.

A couple years ago, Idaho, under the guise of revenue enhancement; started requiring individuals selling firearms, or anything else at a public gathering, to collect sales tax. That is, in effect, a backdoor registration of everyone in the State who sells a firearm.

In order to collect sales tax,you have to have a tax #

Yuppers

I bought all 3 of my budget Remington 700's on sale in the $500 range new. Cnd funds.

Some say cheap, I like the word frugal. Ha.

Lots of the Big 3 budget rifles are showing up at our range.

Ruger American, Win XPR, Savage something or other,,, all of them shoot reasonably well from the groups they are getting down range.

A person wouldn't think this if you looked down the barrels to view the crappy rifling they cut into them these days.

I shouldn't talk since the Remmy 700 rifling ain't no top quality barrel either. Ha

At least 2 of my units have seen the work overs.

Garbage triggers, a person only knows this after installing a Jewell Trigger.

I’m still trying to figure out why you thought about selling it in the first place!
The guy did you a favor by insulting you. Gun stores won’t give you half of what a gun is worth. They have too much overhead and need to sell what they have in stock. It costs money to hold those guns in the racks.
To answer the OPs question. A lot of guys are using Gunbroker. Timing has a lot to do with it too. Wait until Hunting season is over.
By the way, There’s a nice Witchita actioned 6ppc for a good price on the sale board.;)

I just saw Hoz’s post. He’s right. The way I see the media maneuvering against the Right, we may have a real battle holding on to our guns in three years.:(

"real battle holding on to our guns". I hope you really mean BATTLE because we can't be concerned with what the law says if the leftist mobs win at the poll.

I never expected such a strong interest in the .223. I was originally trying to sell it to help pay for the Creedmoor back in June, but after figuring out what ammo it likes and seeing how well it shoots, I don't think I will ever sell it. At least I know where to advertise if I change my mind. Would you believe I found it brand new on clearance for $278? It must have been sitting on the shelf for years. Had at least 10 mark-down price tags on it. It's sibling (a .243) was on clearance for around $340. Should have bought both of them.

Eurooptic still has a few great deals on some Tikkas. It breaks my heart that I can’t buy all of them!:(:D

Seriously! I don't intend to sell, but let's make this fun, and I'll post some pics of how it handles F-class style tomorrow (20 shots) at 100 and 200 yds (that's the longest I can get at my range). I'm a total rookie (started in March 2018), and I have never fired this factory ammo before. I think you will all understand why I love my Tikka. Keep in mind that my Tikka Creedmoor shoots just as accurately, but it requires more skill.

Not trying to hijack this post. Just illustrating why people might not be as interested in used rifles as they used to be.

Clunker, my experience has been just the opposite. I've been auctioning off most of my accumulated guns over the last three years and except for the logistics problems I wish I'd kept them all until now. The buyers are hungry for used guns. Example - a Tikka T3 stainless, laminated stock in .243 - several years old, not used much but wouldn't pass for new - brought $100 more than the current selling price for a new T3X in the same configuration. And the buyer pays the shipping. I don't understand it but as long as the money order clears I don't really care. It's a good time to sell in my experience.

The exception has been what should be highly desirable Winchesters, especially Model 12 and Model 70. I stopped in a local dealer a couple weeks ago who "used to" specialize in these guns and he said the prices have dropped considerably. His opinion, and I'm inclined to agree with him, is that the guys who appreciated the 12, 42 and 70's are dying off and the younger folks don't care for them. I grew up with those guns in my hands and they feel like a gun should. Apparently not any more.
Thanks for that DB. I’ve got some I should move

Joke all ya want, but reckon there's more than a few "Taci cool" shooters that frequent this site, unbeknownst to you...

Reckon they may want your brass to shoot practical matches with their "taci cool" rifle, but don't have any use for a rifle that's built for a bench. One might ponder the popularity of a given shooting sport, and look at the market for purpose built rifles as being symptomatic of that interest...

What will the Socialist shills in the media do when the First Amendment that they hide behind and abuse is worthless now that they've been a willing partner in the destruction of the Second Amendment?

Go vote. Keep prices low and inventory high. Tell some one they can't do something and it will all disappear quickly.
