Reviews on PTG B-12 action

I am pricing out blueprinted Rem700 actions and came across the PTG B-12 short action. Seems like a good deal for $550 but have not read any reviews about it. It will be used to shoot 600yd prone matches and some 1000yd matches. I don’t need a factory Rem trigger included with the sale.

Anyone have experience with these?

Would this be a better choice than one of the bulk blueprint Rem700s available from folks like NW action works?

Why not go to walmart or academy and buy a new one complete for $375 then have your gunsmith blueprint it right, and sell the stock. Youll be out cheaper and itll be done right

The reason I started the thread is because the B-12 appears to be a blueprint equivalent action that you can order with the extras that are not available with a factory Rem700 such as:

-Sako extractor.
-firing pin diameter (not sure how important this is for my intended cartridge of 223).

I presume that The B-12 is competitively priced after including these extra bolt features, yes?

I bought a 700 action through this guy. https://www.nwactionworks.com/actions I am happy with it but next time I will just buy a Kelby action through one of the vendors on this site for $990.

Just my opinion; everyone has one. Forget about anything PTG. My experience is that even if an item shows "in stock" it either is not or it will take them 10-14 days just to get around to pulling it, packing and shipping it. If you want a really nice, smooth action you should just go to bugholes.com and buy a Stiller Tac30. It has side bolt release, fluted bolt, larger bolt knob and pinned recoil lug. If not mistaken, I think one can be bought for just over $1,000, including a 20MOA scope base and it will be ready to screw on a barrel. Yes, I know that is a lot more $$ than what the B-12 or a R700 action is but you will get it promptly and your blood pressure won't need medication from trying to deal with PTG. ANYONE who has the statement basically saying "once you order it's yours and there are no refunds no matter what" doesn't need my business.

I had dealings w/PTG on one of these actions and thought
I was going to need tranquilizers before it was all over.
The side bolt release came as a loose part, not an
installed item. NEVER again. Their organization is a
train wreck. I talked w/David after the fiasco was finally
over. He acknowledged he had lots of problems, mainly
w/office help.

The hidden gem right now is the Gunwerks GRB action on sale, last I checked, for 750.00. If I needed an action at the moment I would be all over this one.

The GRB's ARE a great action, unfortunately they don't come in a small bolt face.

There seems to be a consensus forming about the PTG customer service. My last couple of business dealings with PTG have been for reamers and it was painful. Additionally, The “No refunds, no matter what” policy is very odd. Does not invite me to come back for another painful experience.

I have been considering a B-52. Shot them an email quite a while ago asking some questions. No response. Really wish they had good customer service as it looks good for the price bit without good backing service it would make more sense to get a more expensive action with warranty and good customer service.

Thanks for the information about north land shooters supply. I looked at their website and it appears to be a great deal. However, they don’t have much information about what blue printing processes They use. I am waiting to hear back from the company about what their Blue printing services are. If anyone has more information about it please let me know.

And add the Curtis Axiom to that list. I handled an Axiom action a couple of weekends ago. I admit my initial impression was "it's a 3-lug bolt so it can't have a nice smooth bolt lift." Man, was I wrong!
It appears they are in stock at Bugholes too. Priced at $1050.

Another nice option is the Haverkamp action. $905. You can get them in Right, left or dual port. Comes in 223, PPC and 308 bolt face. Mine has some cock on close but other than that it's a really nicely made action.
