FT/R Stock---In Need of Suggestions

At 1000 yards shot a 595-20x. Got 2nd overall, beat by 3Xs
I shoot a McMillan XIT, Stiller Predator, Krieger heavy varmint barrel, 31” with a NF competition scope. I use Lapua palma brass and Berger 200 gr hybrids.

I worked very hard to earn my sponsors and yes I am sponsored by these companies now except for Nightforce. I was shooting this equipment by choice prior to my sponsorships.

The XIT stock is built with different angles to allow a shooter to be better aligned with the barreled action and scope. Shooters were and still are involved in the design and improvement of the McMillan stocks. There are many options available with McMillan to customize the stock including placement of the action to accomodate smaller framed people.

Good shooting Jenn.......;)

Soooo...

To wrap it up: I ordered my stock today.
I went with the XiT.

Now for a 6 month wait.

I shot the match on Sunday and just could not stop thinking about it. Took me more than a minute to decide on color. But I worked thru it and called Max this morning.

More than a little excited.

It will be worth it.

Bully,

I'm currently running a MPA hybrid chassis in FTR. It's their new chassis they came out with in the last year or so. MPA is very well known on the PRS circuit for their chassis. They made a couple modifications to their light chassis model. The hybrid has a 3 inch longer forend, 6 inch aluminum bag rider (mine doesn't have any angle to it but they may be able to modify it), low profile forend design, etc. cheek piece and butt are adjustable with set screws, not thumb wheel. There are also weights they can add in the forend and butt to make it heavier if you are under weight and want to get closer to the weight limit. Mine weighs 4 lb. 3 oz with moulded rubber vertical grip. They also make another grip that is 3 oz lighter if you need the weight savings. I was skeptical at first about trying this chassis after shooting wood stocks in FTR for years with great success but after trying it i really like it. The chassis feels solid when shooting, it doesn't have a ping/ringing feel to it like i thought it would being aluminum. I had this particular action/barrel in my Doan Trevor custom maple stock and it shot great. I took it out of the stock and bolted it in the chassis without skim bedding etc. Rezeroed the scope at 100 yards then proceeded to shoot a very tight group at 300 yards off the bipod in the chassis with the same load. I've since then shot it at 1000 yards in a few matches and it shoots just as good as it did in the Doan Trevor stock. I will shoot it in Raton next month at Nationals if anyone is interested in taking a look at it. If this is something you might be interested in give Al Olivier a call at MPA and he'd be more than happy to talk to you about it and answer your questions.

Here's my setup with the chassis to give you a idea of what you're looking at for weight.

MPA Hybrid chassis (4 lb. 3 oz)
Borden Rimrock SSR action (single shot)
30 inch Bartlein 5R heavy varmint contour barrel (5 inch 1.25 X .900 at crown)
NF Benchrest scope w/sunshade and Dan Pohlabel mirage cap (very heavy scope)
Jewel trigger
Flex bipod with picatinny attachment
Mirage shield

Total weight with all components 17 lb. 13 oz

There are a lot of good options out there as everyone has mentioned in this thread. This is just another one to consider.

Whatcha doin’?

Doing another MPA Chassis rig like the picture a few post above. Really wanted to use the Barnard P action i have for sale in the want ads but it won't fit in the chassis. I ordered another Borden (Mountaineer) w/integral lug and PVD treated bolt.
