On the two hundred yard target can clean, but only 2 out of 6 "x". Hodgdon has loads for 6/250 but wanted to short cut if possible. These are informal club shoots. It seems capable of greater accuracy and I was curious if others had played with this wildcat. Will try h4350 next as it appears to fill the case case closer to 100 percent. Bench rest for score, as I understand your question. How well does it shoot now?
Nothing wrong with a 6/250. Methinks the bullets aren’t up to the task.

You are speak from a XTC. shooter, Bench rest is a different story....... but you are right about the bullets, He should call Bart and put his order in for some 105 Hammers..... jim

I’m not so sure that Benchrest requires a different chamber. If there had been the same level of development in the 250 or 22-250 brass as we’ve had in the BR brass over the years, there might not have been the BR in the first place. Now we have small primer Creedmoor in 6mm and other “bigger than BR” 6mm hammering 600 yard Benchrest. In reality, 100 &200 yard Benchrest has been developmentally stagnant for decades.
Thanks for the suggestion re: Barts. My ppc likes his 68 gr flat base for sure unless it gets windy. I'm going to exhaust the lighter bullet options at 200 before going to the 105's, only because I think they may be better suited at 300 given the 7.5 twist I'm driving. Thanks for comments.

I did a 12 twist Kreiger and Barts 80 BT. @ 3250 in my 6BR imp.and they were as good as my PPC. like mid to low zero's. James from Tenn. took them to 500 and they were in the 1" range .... jim
Good to know. Am planning on getting some of Barts 80 bt and use them in 12 twist ppc. Wish now my 6/250 had a 12 or 13 twist.

I did an 8 twist in PPC it is ok, but the 12 will be super with the 80's... jim
So shot some Berger 88 grain varmint yesterday with H4350 and H4895, touching and .020 off at 200 yards. Much preferred the H4895, but short throat on rifle is forcing bottom of flatbase bullets into powder column, same with Sierra 95's, especially with H4350. Going to lengthen the throat to accommodate longer bullets since action is single shot Savage. Hopefully will have some progress to report in a few weeks. Cerosafe test confirmed short throat. Also, at 200 no difficulty with bullets keyholing or otherwise distorting target perforations.
